My Jinhao X850 has a gasket too and the barrel does not leak air. I'm hoping that the pair of them can be used in Eyedropper mode if I want to.

still haven’t received mine! They are in transit still, or possibly eternally.

Same here. My package tracking on AE started with "received by logistics company" a full week after I placed the order. Then crickets for three more weeks. Two days ago I got a notice that package had cleared customs in Jamaica Queens. Very confusing since every other AE order ever from our household has come in through the Port of Los Angeles.

But hey, at least it turned up somewhere.

The 82 mini comes with a smaller converter?    The normal converter is too long for 82 mini?  In relation to this, the PGS Mini can't take normal sailor converter as well?

It seems like Jinhao has recently started making 'custom' converter for their pens, first the 9019 and now this, that's really great.

If only the Jinhao's mini converter (was it screw piston type or push plunger type?) fits the 2.4mm bore size, the kaweco sports people will be thrilled!

First, sorry for Johnny come late comment. I have just received my Jinhao 82 mini in orange and I like it a lot. It's actually piston filler. The blind cap is removable and the the pen can be filled just like every piston filler by turning the converter end which is exposed when the blind cap is removed. Of course the pen could be filled just like any other C/C pen with cartridge or converter. I don't know if this is feature of last series of Jinhao 82 mini or it was available from the beginning. Currently my Jinhao 82 is loaded with Karcos orange which suits nicely to the pen, though some darker colored ink might be more suitable so that the ink level could be seen easier.

@Alexandar I suppose it's a question of nomenclature but to me cartridge converter pens are not called piston fillers.  I reserve that term for pens like Pelican and most MBs where the piston is a fixed part of the pen's barrel. I admit it is a bit confusing as cartridge converters of have a tiny piston.

You are right. This is cartridge converter pen that can be filled like piston filled pen. As I remember Sheaffer was making similar pen about twenty years ago.

Keep in mind that the “blind cap” on the end of the Jinhao 82 Mini's barrel is friction-fit, not threaded (i.e. screwed on); and, in some units of the product, some sort of adhesive was applied at the factory to secure the barrel finial such that it cannot be easily pulled off. (I have several Jinhao 82 Mini pens here, and the barrel finials on a couple of them are glued and would not budge when I pull on the “blind cap”, even after long-soaking the barrels in ~45°C water and putting them through ultrasonic cleaning cycles while the glue would be presumably weakened by the wet heat.) The plastic on the Jinhao 82 cracks and splits easily, in my experience; so, from my point of view, there is no reason to expect the barrel finial on the Jinhao 82 Mini to be made of hardier stuff.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

There are fixed converter pens too/captured converter, like the MB Heritage spider and snake
