That’s the 4 original colors, which they label as acrylic.

There were five original colours. The sky blue (incidentally the one I was least attracted to) seemed to be first to become unavailable, starting from the ones being fitted with open EF nibs, then the ones fitted with hooded EF nibs.

Oh, I checked just now, and the Jinhao Official Store on Taobao still has the sky blue (not a direct translation) — or ‘Haibao Blue’ — with open F nibs.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

A different vendor is offering the dark teal acrylic with a hooded nib, also with a glass dip nib. Substantially higher price.

I also see the new? ice/marbled colors offered by that same vendor.

Now there’s 3 solid colors, labeled as plastic, and they are only $4.99 with free shipping.

Thank you for that… I guess! 🤔 Now, not only have I ordered a single unit of the Army Green one on account of ‘reasonable’ pricing inclusive of (quicker) shipping — bearing in mind that those colours are CNY 29.80 each in the Jinhao Official Store on Taobao, while the other five are CNY 48.00 each, irrespective of nib option — but I also bit the bullet and placed an order on Taobao for three of the fancier colours with open nibs, as well as an Iron Grey one with hooded nib, to be shipped to me by sea.

I'd love to know which vendor on aliexpress has the good price - they're showing as significantly more expensive for me (though that might be a geographic thing of course).

I missed the Sky Blue, I guess. I also like the Iron Grey!

Further texting with the vendor revealed they do have the hooded nibs. I will buy one at 4.99 just out of curiosity, although it looks awkward.

Interesting but the hooded nib looks awkward as though the pen wasn’t designed for it and it’s embarrassed!

Yes. 😄

My first thought was that they had stuck a Jinhao 86 nib on the 82 mini. I tried but it doesn't work. The parts of the 86 and 82 are not compatible. They must have designed it specifically for the 82, but with a poor sense of proportion and aesthetics.

A bit like The Crying Game.

Yes, it was 365. Higher for your country?

For me it's 6$ for the regular one with free shipping and 8.2$ for the acrylic ones that have 4.7$ shipping.

I guess it's a bit more expensive. Interesting. I thought it would be cheaper since my country is not really known to be "first world"

FYI the video also provides a comparison of the 82 vs mini converters, photo below.

IMG_1441.jpeg

The 82 mini comes with a smaller converter?    The normal converter is too long for 82 mini?  In relation to this, the PGS Mini can't take normal sailor converter as well?

It seems like Jinhao has recently started making 'custom' converter for their pens, first the 9019 and now this, that's really great.

If only the Jinhao's mini converter (was it screw piston type or push plunger type?) fits the 2.4mm bore size, the kaweco sports people will be thrilled!

We will have to wait until someone has one in hand to know the details but won’t be long now.

Nope. Stop trying to make ‘fetch’ happen; it's not going to happen! See the line at the bottom of:

Are actual costs of shipping to your country from China, borne by whomever and factored into the pricing formula however, actually cheaper than shipping to “first world” countries, though? AliExpress marketplace sellers aren't going to price their offers adjusted for standard of (or cost of) living, average wage, size of the consumer base, etc. for individual countries; they just want to make their targeted (or minimum) X% profit per order, irrespective of from where the orders come in. While demand in non-“first world” countries may be more elastic and sensitive to price, random sellers operating independently (as opposed to in particular brand's corporate head offices) in China aren't going to make any effort or concessions to drum up extra business in those countries, when they could simply look to sell more units to customers in the US, UK, Australia, etc.

I just bought two of the seaweed minis, one with the hooded nib, the peacock blue and the iron grey as well. Then I threw caution to the winds and bought a few of the 82’s newest transparents. These two, actually

Ten days, that’s lightening fast for international shipping! I’m in California, it’s generally just short of three weeks.

I really like these transparent yellow and green colors, I’m not sure why.

Love the pink.  That black and white model reminds me of a Sailor Sapporo.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.
