For your viewing and eventual purchasing please, the Jinhao 82 Mini teased in the 9019 photos is now available on the Jinhao flagship store on Taobao. $6.18 but I'd guess the independent sellers will double that. Happy hunting everyone. large.tb_image_share_1692972685891.jpg.png.62da303f5f2c0c319b4b56a81ceb601d.pnglarge.tb_image_share_1692972689986.jpg.png.4bdbc9e47edfac55dfc6999f1984a1a9.pnglarge.SmartSelect_20230825_101147.jpg.3436c2f97243f6256612dbd82c9443bb.jpglarge.SmartSelect_20230825_101158.jpg.7337e3f1dadd15a9554edb45b51c1d12.jpglarge.SmartSelect_20230825_101209.jpg.89073171c2e21799373061f8afcacb8a.jpglarge.SmartSelect_20230825_101249.jpg.2b68717fcb541c7a005ebd10e6e31c05.jpglarge.SmartSelect_20230825_101809.jpg.2db58eb8e885e133da950d5ee9c3f0e9.jpg

Too bad they decided to make it in the materials they already have in the 100 line, because I already have all of them. The orange one is the worst looking out of them, it doesn't look anything like in these pictures. The rest are ok.

I would have liked them to make it in new materials, maybe in the future.

They all look good to me, although I'm probably the least drawn to the bright Pacific blue one, and most drawn to the muted green-and-blue. I'm sure my wife would love the teal one.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I want them all! I have a lot of the regular 82's and have a lot of fun with them, both as they are and mixed up into different configurations.

I actually have them all sitting in my Taobao shopping cart now, but considering how much shipping is (minimum being the price of one pen, and last time I went cheap and got orders shipped by sea using Taobao's "official" delivery service, it took six weeks), I really should wait until they're available on AliExpress and see what the asking prices are.

Which is exactly what I'll be doing. Probably plus a few weeks to let the initial prices settle down.

I’ve recently bought a series of pens at those ‘premium’ intro prices and I need to tame my impulse buying and wait, just as you said. I got offered a series of pens on AliExpress today with 3-7 day delivery and some discounted prices like the Hongdian D5 for $41. Most I already had (not the D5 tho’) and comparing the prices to what I paid was a little painful. I’ll use the Jinhao 82 mini as my test case for restraint 😂

Well, that's the thing — the Jinhao official store (on Taobao) is not likely to change its pricing for the model in the first six months after release, and AliExpress sellers aren't likely to ask for same-or-less prices within the same time-frame. Many pens do end up being cheaper than official prices on AliExpress a long while later; then there's stacking discounts and offers from AliExpress the platform operator itself to bring down the effective prices (as opposed to the asking prices at the sellers' discretion to set).

I usually buy in bulk when I really like the pen so it justifies the 20-30$ shipping and I can give the spares to friends and family/ I have spare parts for the longterm. That's obviously the air freight and I currently have 20 pens coming that have taken 7 weeks by sea. The air freight gets to Boston within 8 days at most this year. For me it always comes down to if I want 1 pen or multiple colors. If the latter,  the costs is always going to be less with Taobao, even with air freight. The sea freight is great when I just want spares after I confirm the pen is quality and I there is no rush.

The shipping charges to Australia for six of those pens, by sea, amount to the price of one pen. Shipping by air doubles (and then a little more) the charges.

Nice. Just got the C1 and I love it. I must get this one too. I wish it had a number 6 nib. How much is it?

My last Oaso A016 order was 62.11 for 20 pens and the freight was 34.28. That same order in Aliexpress would be 232.60. That's usually the case for shipping to my location but as you show there are differences depending on where you are shipping. I just always remind people to do the math and check if they are ordering more than one pen if saving matters to them and the shipping time by air will be about the same. Everyone's mileage will vary

My last Oaso A016 order

There’s a story behind that phrase, I imagine! Your mention of the A016 prompted me to fetch it and yes, it’s still writing. Inked on the delivery date, June 4, it’s been several weeks since I last touched it, but it wrote on the first stroke. Not a fair test of the membrane’s durability but it does illustrate that the inside ink chamber remains air tight.

@Dan Carmell

I've been testing two sets of the original 4 colors and not one has failed yet. The membrane works,  first time writer with no ink evaporation.  It seems so simple it's amazing no one tried it before as a.sealing mechanism

No apology necessary or expected, and certainly not to me! I simply thought you were trying to keep all your discoveries in the new Chinese fountain pens scene in one place.

I discovered that one of my favorite stores on AliExpress now has the 82 mini for $6.79/$3.94 shipping so $10.73 to the US. That’s the 4 original colors, which they label as acrylic. Now there’s 3 solid colors, labeled as plastic, and they are only $4.99 with free shipping.

A hooded nib is shown (on the video) with a different color combo than previously shown. It is offered in EF/F/M. I’ve texted the vendor and it appears the hooded nibs aren’t an option. It seemed like they were not aware of those hooded nibs.

FYI the video also provides a comparison of the 82 vs mini converters, photo below.

Happy to share the vendor’s name but I don’t want to appear to be promoting them. I imagine others will or already have dropped their prices as well.
