A full spectrum desk lamp I got from Amazon a while ago.  The Lamy Turmaline is also a sheen monster on this paper, and the shimmer inks look great. I have to clean up the pictures a bit before I put them in the gallery to post.

I really want to investigate another light source... could you resend a link to yours, I want to see if it would fit on my desk.

@Penguincollector, these look very nice.  I still have Lady Emerald on my massive to-buy list.

So, when you clean up pictures, do you color-correct?  Change brightness?  I'm trying to raise my skills.

Currently most used pen: Lamy Vista <M> -- filled with Waterman Mysterious Blue

Thank you! I basically just make sure that the particular writing sample that I am focusing on is mid picture, and crop out the other ones around it. I don’t usually color correct, if the picture doesn’t match what I see, I keep changing up my camera angle /lighting until pictures match what my eyes see. I might make it brighter if the shadow of my iPad/phone  gets in the way, but if it’s too hard to fix or doesn’t match my perception, I retake the picture.  There’s a few folks on this site that take wonderful photos and we should really pick their brains about it.

Oh yeah, there are some amazing photographers on FPN.

On the other hand, what you're saying makes a lot of sense to me.  Being able to get the right shot versus major magic in photoshop sounds so much more appealing.  With lighting , my current approach is to take the photographs under the skylight.  To get my shadow out of the way, I'm currently propping the paper up on the tilted screen of my laptop.  Computer as Easel...

@Mechanical, I try to use the daylight as much as possible, I find it helps with true color, but you know how it is up here in the grey.

Here’s my take on the Kokuyo Thin Paper issue.  Kokuyo has replaced their original  52gsm “Thin Paper” with their new and improved 50gsm paper, in the A4/5 category, and no longer sells A4/5 size paper made with 52gsm stock.

For the same reason we’re using Tomoe River-S instead of the original TR, I think we should choose Kokuyo’s latest 50gsm entry to the A4/5 class of thin paper.

Magna Carta Mag 600 Continued:

This is really a calligrapher's pen, but I wanted it anyway.  The Pen is  a new one from an online Merchant.  It’s a big pen.  It’s a very sensitive pen.  It’s also a fire hose.   Anything more than the weight of the pen starts to spread the tines, requiring a 'very' light touch.  For me, this was a similar learning curve to writing with the FPR Flex nib.  Where I was able to adjust the FPR nib to make hairlines, I find the M-600 to be a smooth medium to broad with Konagi ink.  With such a light touch, forming letters takes more care than usual.  I didn't find it to be a pen you can just pick up and write paragraphs with.  I watched a video that compared it to the FPR Flex nib, that concluded they were pretty much the same, with the FPR nib capable of finer lines…. But, that’s really an unfair comparison because the Mag 600 is a whole ebonite pen with an ebonite feed and the FPR is just a nib.  The video pointed out that a lavishly appointed FPR nibbed pen would be much less expensive than a Magna Carta, although it would never be a Mag 600.

The pen itself is highly polished and has a nice feel.  I like large pens so this fits right in.  Never having an ebonite pen before I was amused to find that as I wrote with it, I could notice the faint smell of rubber.

I have since changed from Sailor Konagi to a dryer ink, Edelstein Topaz, in an effort to control the ink flow.  I also tried it on Tomoe River-S and Clairefontaine, both of which have a slightly finer line width than Cosmo Snow.  Of the two, Clairefontaine seems to have a finer line and a slightly darker color, but it's close.

Quick and dirty rough drafts

I’m thinking about getting one for my birthday this year and then having Kirk Speer give it a needle point grind, since it sounds a bit wide.  There’s something really nice about the way the letters form, but I don’t have the words for it.

Why wait for your Birthday...   LOL  😁  Get it now so you can use it on the Thin Paper Comparison....

A needle point sounds interesting but the nib might be too soft for that fine a grind.  If you looked at it wrong it could spread the tines...

On another front, do you have a MoonMan Ti200?

It’s only a couple of months, and I just bought like 6 pens. I’m sure he’ll have had some experience with these nibs by now and will advise me on how narrow one can feasibly go on the Mag 600.

I missed the boat on the Moonman. I don’t know much about them. To be honest. I have a student pen with penguins on it, but that’s it. I was just starting to look into titanium in general, as well as palladium nibs. Whether I get one or not will depend on whether we get the de minimus exemption back for overseas purchases, as I live in a sales tax free state and don’t want to pay customs fees.

It’s probably the same size as a 601 nib.  I’m looking for a medium.

There’s a few bent nibs available, including ones for a Wing Sung 601, if that’s what you mean.

I saw that, but they're black nibs...

Don't worry, the coating will disappear if you look at it sideways long enough ;)

There are some other options in that store, some come as pen only but still very cheap. If you take a Hero branded one you may have to bend or cut a little "positioning tab".
I'm not exactly sure but some older Hero pens use a 19,5mm nib instead of 18,5...but I've never seen the Ti200 nibs so ?

My understanding is that the Bobby little bent nibs for the 601 fit in the TI200…. I’d even settle for a  regular Medium nib.  What size are 51 nibs?  Will they fit?
