Leonardo, or not? Anyone recognize this odd one?

I've come across this pen in a supposedly Leonardo box, with a nib with a picture of Leonardo (as I remember him), and a rather different clip from the usual Leonardo quality item. Can I assume it is a fake?

That is not, as you infer, a Leonardo Officina Italiana pen or box.  Doesn't look to me as if they are pretending to be either.  There are many people in ths world called Leonardo.  They are not Leonardo Officina Italiana pens either.

Sorry maybe I was not clear, or my english was not correct.

I meant that it is not a fake in the sense that it is not a tetnative to copy a Leonardo Officina Italiana pen or packaging.

It is a completely different pen named Leonardo, with no intent to imitate anything.

I agree. This is not a pen made by Leonardo Officina Italiana. Leonardo da Vinci was an important, highly esteemed Italian artist and polymath. A number of pen companies have made Leonardo da Vinci tribute pens. I don't recognize this one off hand.

 

I assume you examined the pen's barrel for any engraving that reveals the manufacturer. I find the cap finial and clip rather distinctive. I suggest posting your question in one of the more general forums. Some one may be able to identify it.
