  Well said.  (After breaking out the dictionary...)

I believe it's a Homerism, from The Simpsons (but I could be wrong). Apparently it has entered the mainstream lexicon, which I think is completely deserved.

I just emptied the blue cartridge with a a syringe, rinsed it and filled it up with another ink

I know that's possible, but it always feels so temporary to me. I went ahead and ordered a converter, I think the pen is worth the extra few bucks.

I did while I was waiting for the convertor!

Thanks as usual for the review.

Much as I like blue inks normally, I have been underwhelmed by Lamy Blue -- but have a number of cartridges of it at this point (including the one that came with the Blue Safari my husband wanted recently when I was ordering the Lilac al-Star).

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

ETA:  Although the microscope image of it is certainly interesting....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

:) Me and you both (well, on the underwhelmed part).

:D Funny how the microscopic version can be more interesting than the writing on paper version.

I have full bottle W.Germany Lamy Blue and a full bottle of Turquoise...

I keep putting off using that blue because I have Pelikan 4001 and some Edelstein sapphire.zpBaRie.jpg

I didn't notice...Does Lamy blue shade?

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

It shaded a little, but not strongly - from my pen, anyway.

Looks like an interesting blue. I'd need to see it live, 'cos so far, I doubt it will take me out of MB Permanent Blue and Noodler's BSB, but maybe in real life it is even more appealing.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

It's not as dark as MBPB, and not as vibrant as BSB, and not as permanent as either.

I really dislike this blue, not just because the shade is uninteresting, but that it fades pretty badly (within a few days) on most papers I use.  Unfortunately, Lamy gives me another cartridge with every new pen purchase.

Still dithering, looking for something else, I came across an unused or nearly so,bottle of 4001 blue.

...

I'll have to clean out a pen cup....and do two M's.....not semi-flex, looking for shading. Bring down some of the good papers and test them.....................sometime........but not soon enough to matter here.

I think current Lamy blue is darker, closer to Waterman Serenity blue than it was 20 years ago. I didn't get to compare Lamy blue yet, but I found some old Lamy black and it's lighter, greener than current Lamy black...which is exactly how I remembered Lamy black!

As for the disappearance on some paper (like all blue inks using the same dye), I noticed it's more often the case on cheap paper with unbuffered coating. I found some 20/25 years old letters recently, written with Lamy blue and Waterman Serenity blue, and some are badly faded while other are not. I know some of the "non-faded" were written on Oxford paper (before it was "optik") but I couldn't tell for the faded ones.

Paired with the very limited water resistance, if you want your writing to stay legible for years, these blue inks are maybe not the best option. I remember them with mixed feelings from ages ago, as back in my school days that's pretty much all there was in medium blues...and I stupidly bought some Lamy blue, Waterman Florida/serenity blue, Pelikan 4001 blue and R&K Royal blue bottles just for the nostalgia factor. Oh and some ST Dupont blue too 😣

Used on and off in the last few weeks/ months, they are good at not drying out (pen uncapped), easy to clean, mostly good on cheap paper...but the color? Yawn.

My reaction exactly.

:D
I recently found a box with some old 20/30 years old blue and black cartridges, and it put me to sleep!
