Waterman 52 lever advice please

Hello FPNers,

I bought a Waterman 52 in amazing condition 5 months ago.

But recently, the lever has not been staying in place in the closed position. It keeps popping up a little bit.

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?

Many thanks!

Best,

Hundreds of flowers in spring, the moon in autumn,
The cool breeze in summer and snow in winter;
If there is no vain cloud in your mind,
for you it is a good season.

Hi Velox,

A couple of things spring to mind. One (less likely) is that the lever got damaged very slightly and is not fitting into the slot as well as it should. Two (more likely) is simply that your sac is wearing out. These old Waterman's don't have a j-bar spring to keep the lever flat; they rely on the springiness of the sac to do the job. Long before the sac fails the material can get tired and lose a little bit of it's "push" back to tubular form. An easy fix.
