Cheap Sailor pens?

I stumbled across this amazon link where what seems to be a sailor pro gear slim is being sold

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0861MQVG2/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_ZK73YEK5N4RQ602EEMWB?linkCode=ml1&tag=stationerydum-20&th=1

However, the pen is only $92. The listed product code maps to the same pen on the goulet pen company for more than double the price.

(Notice 'Product Code' under name, right of reviews) Also the brand according to amazon is セーラー万年筆, looking that up leads to the sailor website and google translate says that means 'sailor fountain pen'. Was wondering if this is legit, or should I avoid it? Obviously would save a lot of money but I don't want to get scammed either so just hoping someone could weigh in and advise me.

My advice would be to shop the seller, not the platform. It's tempting to reduce the equation to just Amazon (and not even making a distinction between Amazon US, Amazon Australia, Amazon Germany, Amazon Japan, etc.) — and similarly AliExpress and Esty — as an online selling platform and readily recognisable name for most folks. However, if you want to shop ‘smarter’ and with more confidence that the average global consumer, then you ought to ‘study’ the commercial landscape harder, watch over longer periods, and observe the details more closely (long) before you're ready to pull the trigger on spending money, instead of only becoming interested then, but not before and not after, understanding especially that all that discovery and due diligence work may lead to no transaction and no material satisfaction in avoiding offers that subjectively don't pass muster.

In the case of the link you provided, the seller is ‘shimanoya’, not Amazon in any region. So you should be doing your research on that.

That's my approach to it as a seasoned fountain pen hobbyist and frequent shopper on Amazon as well as eBay, AliExpress, etc.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Hello.

Here is a link to Amazon Japan.

https://amzn.asia/d/7Mn3EGR

If you convert it to your country's currency, you can see the manufacturer price in Japan and the discount rate on Amazon.

For your information, I am in Japan, so the product pages I see show Ru-Sa products with free shipping at the lowest price.

Even if you are in Japan, sellers who reimport are listed at nearly double the price.

By the way, I don't think the pen is pro-gear as it is called Shikiori Japanese Fairy Tale series Fountain Pen.

Shiki Ori. (Check item code and manufacturer's price.)

https://en.sailor.co.jp/product/11-1227/

https://en.sailor.co.jp/category_product/fountain-pen/?taxonomy-detail=shikiori

Japanese page.

https://sailor.co.jp/product/11-1227/

Pro Gear.

https://en.sailor.co.jp/category_product/fountain-pen/?taxonomy-detail=professional-gear

"Four Seasons Weave, Fairy, Dragon Miyagi Castle" is a mistranslation; the correct translation is "Shiki Ori Japanese Fairy Tale series Fountain Pen Dragon Palace".(SHIKIORI 四季織 おとぎばなし 万年筆 龍宮 11-1227-301)

Please examine the above.

*I have pasted some links to product pages to explain the identity of the four product names due to an error associated with the mistranslation.

If this is inappropriate, please remove it.

Also, my intention in writing this post is to explain the identity of the product name, and is in no way an invitation to purchase the product.
