Pen of the quarter instead of buying so many cheaper pens.

If I lived in Germany, I would be searching everywhere for them, bound to be some in a secondhand store or similar place in a tiny village somewhere. It would be so fun!
What do you consider a good price for Sonnecken? I found one near me for $125

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Yes...very good price.

Back in the day when one could get a 140 for €60 and a 400 for 80, Osmia was my limit at the same of €2- more. Soennecken was up there in the MB range.

Eventually I got a cheap €35 Sonecken nib, and what could be a Soenecken cap, but the body had no markings at all. That nib is my first and best Wet noodle a real 7X one.

I'd never believed I'd end up with so many MB's.:yikes: I wasn't really chasing them !!!

My MB's came from live auctions....never seen a Sonennecken or if one was there it was mixed up with a few 'over priced' MB's so out of reach.

I was chasing the nibs....on the MB's.

The '48-60 medium-large 146 had a maxi-semi-flex nib....something I'd hoped to get....the pen was a beater in a lot of pens....I wish I'd taken a before picture in I didn't expect Francis to work wonders. I'd been satisfied with a new gasket and straighten up enough to screw together....not work of art.

There was no cap band........click for a closer look.

There was a time before 'computer's or telephones in the auction halls when fountain pens were cheaper than Ebay....in the dealer had to make a profit. There were few fool collectors I had to beat, so back then it was cheaper.....no longer.

I do like the great balanced medium-large 146, more than the \70-now large 146. Pre-70 MB nibs are better too...if one likes stubbed semi-flex.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

Make one bid, and at no more than 10% over your 'max'. Sniping works well, but I use to hang out waiting for the last 15 seconds for the one and only adrenaline rush bid.

Haha I actually paid a little more than I had to for it. It was my first ebay auction run and I didn't really understand how things worked. Nevertheless, I am very happy with the purchase--the equivalent pen nowadays from Pilot costs twice as much as the used one, and the pen arrived with no discernible defects. From how clean it was when I washed it out, it may never have been inked. Of course, you don't always get that lucky; I consider myself fortunate that I learned how to use ebay with minimal pain and expense.

It is the nib and perhaps a cap....but I just had that 'no name' repaired, so I's back in action.

I'm not sure my latest buy (on the right) really qualifies, but here they are:

You can really see here what pen shape & size is my favourite 😄.

It hits the border where red and orange meet, but Parker Big Reds do that too.
I love the flat tops, some are a bit too chonky for my hand- I prefer slim pens in general, but I love the way they look- so dapper!

Exactly! Despite all the beautiful acrylics & colours this pen also comes in I wanted this faded red-orange with the imprint on the barrel, probably for that very reason 😀.

Niiice @Tashi_Tsering!!

Some stunning pens, particularly that Omas... I only have two red pens.

A small burgundy piston filler Minerva 60 that writes particularly smooth with its fine flexy 585 nib, matches perfectly to produce a light Melon Tea; comfy once capped.

A wild medium M205 in red, that looks more like coral to me; paired with a subdued Gulf Blue.

Oh, that’s nice- I like the contrast between the cap and barrel (that reminds me of a Duofold). The gold on red is pretty.

My latest acquisition: a Pelikan Level L65B in red, with an ink bottle. So far everything works as intended—we’ll see how long it takes before I break it 🙂
