I didn't think I had any red pens... Then remembered the Kakuno. Then the Parker 45... and then thought I'd better have a look through the drawers.

So, so many pens I didn't even know existed.:happyberet:

How do you like the Hanzi?  I love the eclectic mix, and noticed the Aion, Platinum pocket, and the 45 Coronet right away .

Visconti Kaleido Voyager Rosso Tramonto (i.e. “red sunset”)

I think, I have no more red pens (I have few vintage pens in “red” ebonite, but they are not truly red). I prefer black pens :)

The silver trim really finishes it well and compliments the acryloid. Very nice! Please feel free to post your red rubber pens, they count too!

Okey-dokey :)

I have 3 vintage pens in “red” ebonite (from top to bottom on photo):

- My all time favorite vintage British made Perry&Co “Vidura” no. 555 — large pen (14cm length and 14mm in diameter) with fantastic broad nib. I think, it’s from early 1930th

- Waterman’s 52V in red ripple, with 18k rings and flexy nib. Late 1920th, I think

- Waterman’s 52 1/2 V with broad/stub nib.

Parker Vacs are so beautiful; I would love to run into a restored one for sale  in person one day. I’m too scared of ruining one to buy it unrestored , because for me that means it gets forgotten in a drawer for decades.

These are gorgeous! I would love to see the nibs and how they write if you are ever so inclined.  I love the wood look of the marbled ebonite, and yours are in such wonderful condition.

How do you feel about the Lady? I like the size and shape from your photo. I love my 144, at the time I had a very hard time choosing between the black and the burgundy. What nib does it have?

For my hands, the Lady is pretty darn near perfect. It is just a millimeter or so wider than my Parker 180, is very well-balanced even when posted, and slips easily into pen loops and cases.

I really love the nib--it is a very small 14K fine nib, but quite soft and pleasing to write with. It isn't advertised to be a flex nib, but it outperforms my Monteverde/Jowo Omniflex any day of the week. Ink flow with Iroshizuku is a little wet and feathery, so I will be trying to correct that with a drier ink on my next fill. It is the first used pen I bought, and I am blown away by how good it is (and how little I paid for it)

Speaking of shopping--these don't come up for sale very often. I scan ebay daily looking for another that is exactly the same, and I have seen only 2 over the past 4 months. There seem to be 3 widely-circulating versions of the Lady: one wider pen with an inlaid nib, the smallest narrowest version (this one) and the newer Lady White, which seems to be a slightly bigger and updated version of this one. Of the three, my version is the hardest to find, and I have only ever seen it in the red color with little diamond patterns on it (You can't see it in my picture because of the abysmal lighting)

My only real complaint is that there is a small leak up at the front under the section ring. I might try to take it apart and repair it... or I might just put a pigment ink in it and hope it strategically plugs the leak.

Unfortunately I clean them out :(

Here is a photo. Vidura on the left, Waterman’s number 2  nib on the right. In the middle, for comparison, Montblanc 146. as you can see, the Vidura nib is very large, something around number 8

I hope it works for you. I wonder if Pelikan Fount India would work-  a dry ink and a pigmented all in one. I will keep an eye out for a slimmer one, those kind of pens are my favorite. I’m all about the thin pens. I really enjoy the  mid century to ‘80s Japanese 14k nibs. They’re so bouncy.

wowm that Vidura is giant,  especially compared to the Waterman.  I love the old warranted  14k nibs, I haven’t had a bad one yet.

I have @ 100 pens and only some 5-7 (3-4 Pelikan 200s)were new.......Had I bought new...back in the day when cheap Japanese pens hitting the market, ...............long before cheap Chinese pens.

I'd have the $$$$ 22.00 P-75 I bought @ 1970 had a hand full of used inherited pens....when I returned from the 40 years in the ball point desert.

Why they were asking a whole $30 to $50!!!! ....and twice that for middle class  new pens....this was 15 years ago.

Noobies were told get a $15 Esterbrook or a Safari.....Everyone did and doubled the price of Esterbrooks, so noobies were told to go Metropolitan...Japanese.

Living in Germany I got into buying old vintage and semi-vintage pens..............in the Pen of the Week in the Mail Club, and later in the Pen of the Month in the Mail club.

I remember 'screaming' at paying €19 instead of the 'normal' €15 for a Geha 790, then and now still the Best Buy for semi-flex at €60.

Do keep up the hunt....see what was bid...live auction of course unless you are so rich you can be an impatient buyer in the Buy Now section.

Make one bid, and at no more than 10% over your 'max'. Sniping works well, but I use to hang out waiting for the last 15 seconds for the one and only adrenaline rush bid.

I used to save up my lunch money and buy old pens at my local vintage shop in jr high school. There was an original black and pearl Duofold  that was way over my price range then, but is probably ridiculously cheap in hindsight. How I wish I had that pen.
