@CSSD That’s a gorgeous pen!  It looks so well balanced, and has just enough bling. Some of my favorite pens were given to me by my dad. It’s nice to have an emotional attachment to go with the thoughtfulness of the person who knows you well.

@Arthur Pewty, I love the eclectic nature of your red pens. The older celluloid with the Degussa nib is intriguing, the Duofold is always such a classic form, and the Bexley really caught my eye. The burgundy Elite is so cute, I keep meaning to pick one up while I can.

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Sailor 🐧 Mini Pro Gear Slim M, Van Dieman’s Neptune’s Necklace

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Pelikan M605 F, Pelikan Edelstein Moonstone

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

@Arthur Pewty -- That pen with the Degussa nib is interesting looking.  I have a couple of old Parkers made with a similar looking celluloid (a Parkette and a Deluxe Challenger).

Admittedly, though, I don't have a lot of red pens in general.

That’s what it’s reminiscent of- my green Parkette!

My red pens.

the Messenger is in hospital right now, hence the exploded view, and I think the TWSBI will qualify because in the right light it’s definitely flashing red :)

Thank you, @RedPie! I hunted high and low for it for years after the box containing my original (my very first school pen) got erroneously donated in an attic clear out by my mum while I was overseas. This one’s an F and I’m still on the lookout for an M so that I can get that “mmMMmm” feeling back.

As it is, I have to make an update to my post from June 18th 2023. Four red pens have accumulated in the meantime and they told me that they want to be featured, too.

Wow, yes- I agree with your pens; especially the little Rusewe. The material is intriguing.
The Executiv-Simplo-Wien must also have an interesting origin story. The MB and Pelikan are simply stunning.

The Rusewe caught my eye as well.  That really is a pretty pen.  I don't know anything about that brand.

@carola -- What sort of fill system does it have?

It´s an Austrian brand, I´ve even had the opportunity to meet the current company boss some years ago to check if one of my pens was a Rusewe production and to see their Rusewe collection. They stopped making fountain pens in the 1980s, today they specialize in office supplies and for example they are bottling Montblanc inks, which is why he gave me one bottle of Royal Blue and one of Midnight Blue during my visit. Very nice guy.

The Junior is a cheap school pen from the 1950s, really tiny and thin, but it is a piston filler (with a cork seal). The Rusewes are by no means first tier pens, but as they are from around here and some of them are really nice (even with gold nibs), I have a tender spot for them. So sometimes I pick up a beaten up specimen (the red one here had loose cap rings, was completely ink encrusted and had obviously seen things) and see if it can be brought back to life. I have no idea yet whether the nib is any good, it came back from repair just on Friday and the nib is so small, I am not even sure yet if there is any iridium on the tines or if it´s just the nib´s material bent up to form a tip. This could get a rather scratchy affair...

Interesting.  But the nib could be good, even if it's just bent over tines (I have a couple of Esterbrook pens with 1555 Gregg nibs and was surprised at how good writers they are).

And that pen of yours is awfully pretty....

Yes, I'm well beyond my sixtieth birthday. So this Kanreki Pro Gear is a belated present to myself. The contrasting red hues are quite striking.

Amazon Japan comes through again with a reduced price on the elaborate packaging.

Okay, I'll play. Here's a smattering of red pens. I have some other red-adjacent pens not shown here (pink, red decoration, etc.). Not a great pic, sorry.
