Red Pen Club- Show Me Your Red Pens!

I love your school pens, @AmandaW! I also collect school pens, they’re great! I was looking at some Pelikanos today, some limited runs they did for Volkswagen are selling for $100 US on the ‘bay. 😱 Most of my Penguin pens are cheap and cheerful school pens.

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Sailor 🐧 Mini Pro Gear Slim M, Van Dieman’s Neptune’s Necklace

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Pelikan M605 F, Pelikan Edelstein Moonstone

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

@inkstainedruth that comparison was very interesting. Not much change happening. Poor guy with the multiple surgeries caught my eye. The home team thing could be more predictable if the AFC team is always home team in even years. I don’t know how that is determined.

Now that last line has me nervous. At this point, individuals could have done something to make things less severe.

What a lovely, cheery red @RedPie! The 159 line has such a breadth of colors, it’s fun to see them.

I’m posting a trio of pens that has only one new red pen. This saves me adding another to my gallery of images.

The one on the right is the new Kaweco Sport Classic Red with 1.1mm stub nib. All three in the photo have stub nibs. I got them all for the KC (Missouri) Chiefs going to the Super Bowl. They all represent a win. A Lamy Safari represents a loss. I’m wishing I’d bought the Kaweco Elite Royalty in deep red since the Chiefs fans are called Chiefs Kingdom. I was trying to save money.

@Misfit, Do show the kaweco elite royalty once you have saved up.

@penwarrior32 there are so many blue pens, you should be able to find one. When I was looking for a matching ink, it was easy to find a HEX code. I haven’t tried that for pens. Two of the three Kaweco Elite Royalty are blue, but one is too light a shade.

I looked up your Bills HEX code, and you can see it here

I tried using a couple codes to search for a pen, but it didn’t work. Inkswatch.com works with the HEX code for inks. I’d say it’s up to you which blue pen is the close enough blue to Buffalo Bills blue.

I I may have forgotten I had another red pen, in it was up in my walnut humidor.VzyfYI9.jpg

The smaller ceder lined humidor is burl veneer. It's now full of etuis.

I've never gotten around to buying those bent felt 'pen' holders. Sounds like something for Christmas...

Anyway, I have a red Ahab with black streaks.

A fine poster who now posts on Geeks, took his dremel, or Swiss file and did the Ahab/Pilot Mod of grinding half moons in the shoulders of the nib; making it more flexible.

Turning the nib from a very hard semi-flex:( to a joyful Easy Full Flex. :DThe first of the three levels of superflex nib ratings.

It worked perfectly...I never had to deepen the ink channel, nor break off combs to make it flow more.

For a while back when noodler pens were new on the market, adjusting the ebonite feed was either a necessary, or a learning process.

The less combs a feed has the faster the flow.

As soon as I get down to a manageable amount of pens inked...say 15, not the 32 I now have inked...I could again go into superflex nibs...not that I'm going to learn caligraphy

@Misfit, thanks for your advice. Will look out for a blue FP soon. Cheers

I hope the search is fun. Aren’t we nice, what with our teams in the same conference?  Fountain pens are every day, so they win all the time.

The wife went to the flea market and thinks of me.

Marksman, Pilot's Korean sub brand, Korean factory or Chinese, in Marksman seems used by many. ('80's?)

Nib...Arrow though an Oval....to western eyes an EEF...which I had been looking for. So could be a Pilot sub-brand....in I don't know how thin Korean nibs are... Chinese seems wider than Japanese from my reading here.

Maroon is red enough for me.

Me too, BBO. That pen looks interesting, I know Pilot has a few factories around the world, but I didn’t realize that they had another name attached to it. I have a Cross Solo attributed to Pilot, so I know they make pens for others.  I would like to read about how you feel about your new find once you’ve spent time with it.

That’s a nice pen. I am very curious about Pineider Quill nibs. I would love to know what your experience is like.
