I agree. If I were forced to live with one color pen, I'd have to pick red.

I’ll take all your blue pens, please.

My two red pens, 83 years age difference. I think I need more red pens as well as red inks, of which I have only 1.

That red tortoiseshell is GORGEOUS! :puddle:

I recently picked up a Deluxe Challenger similar to the one in the photo; just looked up my inventory notes and yours is about a decade older than mine.  Saw a photo of it in an estate sale listing and thought it was a Parkette because I have one made of the same material, until I saw it in person; then had it repaired at the Ohio Pen Show this past November.

What are the nibs on your two pens, and how well do they write?

Thank you Ruth!

How do you like your Challenger? These pens don't seem to get much attention but I think they look almost as good as a Vacumatic and are plenty reliable. I have a slender version as well with grey celluloid bits, but most of it has discolored to a greenish-grey.

The writing in the picture is done with my Parker. It writes like a modern western fine, which IME is usually a medium with vintage nibs. It writes really wet and smooth and has a flat contact surface which gives it a square shape and sometimes a little bit of architect character. It can flex a little if I want it to but it doesn't show up in my normal writing. My Pelikan has a perfect-for-me medium nib and is very smooth as you'd expect from Pelikan. But I find the spherical tipping to be a bit boring and have thought about grinding it just a little so that it has some stub character.

Grrrr! That red Pelikan keeps torturing me. I have avoided getting it for the past few months. I have a MB JFK in bordeaux incoming from Italy that I chose over the Pelikan tortoise. I wanted both and now I'm still jonsing for this one.

I loooove that Parker. That era had some beautiful celluloid and wonderful nibs. The Pelikan is gorgeous. I had a kind of blah MB B nib that I had ground into an italic. It’s an astonishing improvement.

I also had an MB custom ground. Mine was done by Gena Salorino at the Philly Pen Show to a broad left oblique. It transformed the pen.

I haven't used it much.  Got it repaired in November at the Ohio Pen Show -- but had a bunch of other pens repaired that weekend as well.  Not overly keen on the nib, which I'm guessing might be an EF, and I expect I need to put a wetter ink in it than Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Black next time (Ron Zorn did the rehab on it, and I was having him do another pen as well, and I just couldn't stomach the idea of more than one pen having his go-to ink, Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue, in them (especially at the same time...).  OTOH, before the repairs done on it, I paid a whole whopping three bucks for it....

I understand why, as a repair person, he uses it all the time, but I just can't stand that ink color -- and blue is probably my favorite color in general, not just for inks).  And since he's in my local pen club, I can tease him about how he uses 4001 Brilliant Black when he wants to get "wild and crazy" ; of course the meeting a year or so back, that was "Ink Swap Night", he just sat there twitching the entire evening (while the rest of us were geeking over the different inks ).

I’m posting a trio of pens that has only one new red pen. This saves me adding another to my gallery of images.

The one on the right is the new Kaweco Sport Classic Red with 1.1mm stub nib. All three in the photo have stub nibs. I got them all for the KC (Missouri) Chiefs going to the Super Bowl. They all represent a win. A Lamy Safari represents a loss. I’m wishing I’d bought the Kaweco Elite Royalty in deep red since the Chiefs fans are called Chiefs Kingdom. I was trying to save money.

A friend of mine reposted a meme on FB about all the correlations between this year's Chiefs victory and their last Superbowl win.

Oh, at this point, I mostly will log in to FB if something filters into my inbox, and then check other notifications -- and then log back OUT....

But the meme my friend reposted was amusing enough I took a screenshot of it....

Enjoy!

I’m not on Facebook. I tried it over a decade ago. Not for me.

Me too. I had an account maybe 5  or more years ago, then deleted it. I still get harassed by them and dh says all my pics etc are still there. Undeletable. It's like they're pretending I'm still there. Whatever. They have a bigger problem than I do if they can't let go of people who don't  want them...

More important... Recently arrived to join the Red Pen Club are two red school pens, a currently available Faber Castell and a 70s Sheaffer.

Did I remember to enrol this red school pen? It's a Greenfield with a fine nib.

Yeah, I like school pens. Second childhood? Maybe. Or simply that I can afford to buy them now. :)

Will work for pens...
