A couple questions about this pen

Hello everyone, i came here to ask for some help with this pen.

My father in law gave it to me yesterday, he bought it some time ago but never really used it and it was in an old drawer until my wife found it. I don't really know much about fountain pens, i only have a Kakuno Pilot plastic one i use for drawing, so i tried searching the internet what kind of cartridges i need to use on this pen but i really don't want to screw it up. I've seen similar models while searching but i can't find many info about how to fill it up, so i was wondering if i can use a modern converter or if i can refill the cartridge it already has with a syringe or something like that.

The nib reads: "SHEAFFER Palladium Silver Made in the U.S.A.", the cartridge can't be read due to erasure and it has a small black 'button' on the top that can be pushed but doesn't seems to do anything.

I really want to use this pen so i would appreciate a lot if you can help me, thank you!! p.s. Sorry if my english is not amazing, not my native language.

Hi there..

Your pen takes "Standard" or "Classic" propietary Sheaffer disposable cartridges.

And you have the original (now descontinued) converter, you can fill your pen from an ink bottle if you use the converter...

Photos :

1.Converter in production

2.Your old converter(push button filler)

3.Sheaffer Cartridges

Best regards.

Thank you for your answer!
Looks like the converter doesn't work anymore, i've looked videos on how to use it and it doesn't suck ink or water up, wich is very sad because i can't find that converter or the disposable cartridges you posted on my country, and already went to the only art store were i usually buy ink and they don't have them either, so i guess ill have to wait and hope some day it's available on Amazon México. Can i use a converter from another brand that maybe fits?

To find Sheaffer Classic Cartridges try searching for "Sheaffer Skrip".

Skrip is Sheaffer's brand name for their inks.

For example

https://www.amazon.com.mx/Sheaffer-Skrip-Cartridges-Blister-96360/dp/B002IKKL0O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=5F817018CIFE&keywords=sheaffer+skrip&qid=1683593523&sprefix=sheaffer+skrip%2Caps%2C3485&sr=8-1

Sheaffer cartridges have a deep hollow in the back end. So if you put them into the pen the wrong way round nothing will happen. No damage done though.

The correct end to push into the pen has a small central hole that is sealed by a little plastic ball.

When pushed into the pen, either by hand or by screwing the back body of the pen into place, that little ball gets popped out of its hole allowing ink to flow.

The little ball rattles around inside the cartridge, possibly helping ink flow.

A empty cartridge can be refilled with a syringe and blunt needle, inserted through the little hole where the plastic ball used to be.

I have only ever bought just one pack of five Sheaffer cartridges. Refilled by syringe they can be reused many times.
