Help with a Montblanc

TCassidy

Recommended Posts

I bought this montblanc at an estate sale, the nib and feed are bent at a extreme angle, the pen writes smoothly and is easy to write with, the nib and feed show no signs of damage or tool marks, does anyone know why a nib would be bent this way, any help would be appreciated.  Thanks Theresa

Nice pen - but, yes it's had a nose dive, or ran into a wall etc.

The nib is heavily bent, so much so that it's taken the tip of the feed with it.

A nib technician, or pen mechanic could put it right.

You may be able to do it yourself, if you have experience.

If not experienced, a vintage Montblanc pen is probably not a good place to start.

Good that it writes, though.

You can keep using it, while you decide what to do.

I'm sure other suggestions will follow.

Fingers crossed for an easy fix.

Looks purposefully bent to me.  If you are happy with the way it writes then there's no reason to "fix" it.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Thanks for the imput, I am not going to keep the pen, I am looking for a reason for the bent nib when I list it.  Theresa

The previous owner wanted it to match their personality?

Add lightness and simplicate.

It might be a trick of the light, or a reflection, or is there a crack on the section along the nib line?

Re selling: I'd just sell it as it is, with a bent nib for reasons unknown. Tell them it writes well and add a writing sample to your listing/advert.  And if that is a crack, a picture of it would be helpful, so the new owner can know what they're getting into.

Good luck.

Very similar, must be what they were going for, I would like to know exactly how the did it without breaking the feed and not creasing the gold.  Thanks for the information.  Theresa

Hey, I bought this pen!

I spotted it when I was looking for a Pilot with a posting nib, which I think is what the nibmeister was emulating when s/he modified this MB.

It really is an excellent writer. I loaded it with Brevity blue-black and it is currently my daily driver. It starts up without complaint; the nib skates across the paper, it lays down a fine line and never skips.

I could only be happier with this pen if it was a platinum LeGrand, as it would complete my LeGrand set.
