Montblanc fountain pens with nibs with letters in triangle

Hello,

in Montblanc fountain pens from 30's especially cheaper there are some times nibs with Warranted 14 Kar stamped and letters a, b or c in triangle. Can someone told me something about these nibs? Were these nibs made by Montblanc?(*) Why were they used instead of normal MB nibs?

I also noticed that letters are correlated with pen size. It means that smaller pens have a, bigger b and the biggest c.

Examples of these nibs from fountainpen.de:

*BTW Has MB always made its nibs by itself or it has sometimes commissioned nib production to other companies?

Regards

I have Montblanc Safety pen no. 302 (1935-37) with “a” nib on it.

The “Collectible Stars” book states that these nibs were produced from 1932 to 1937.

That's all the information I have.

Agree with the above post.  According to Roesler in The Montblanc Diary & Collector's Guide, these nibs were produced in the years 1932 thru 1937 specifically for the III Series and have letters A, B, and C.

Hard times don't last, but hard people do.

Thank a Veteran.
