[Help Identify] Sheaffer Stylist II - Never saw this finish!

Hello all,

Just registered. :)

Love Sheaffer's, and found the pen on the left in an auction. Tried to identify it in Sheaffer Targa, and RichardPens.com. It looks like it is a Stylist II, but I can't find anywhere this type of finish referenced. It looks like dented chrome, but even in the Sheaffer targa website there is no such finish.

Can anyone help me identify it by the finish?

Thank you in advance.

To which pen do you refer?  I see three.  The silvery one has a conical nib, which Targas don't have (or at least I never saw one).

What's the fill system?  I wonder if it could be a Frankenpen.

Or Maybe this could help?

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Pen on the Left (chrome). I mentioned it in the original post.

Ignore the Sheaffer Balance on the right.

I never saw the dented chrome finish online in any Sheaffer. This is not a Targa, it is a Stylist II it seems from my research. But no mention of this finish in Stylist II anywhere.

Taking a second look around, I've seen the Stylist II in many finishes, but not that.  It doesn't mean they didn't make it, just that we haven't seen one.

I forgot that I have a Stylist II.  It came without a cap.

@Sailor Kenshin Thanks. Yes I agree. I think it is a Stylist II because of this Richard page (http://richardspens.com/ref/nibs/triumph.htm) - under "The Sixth Generation" topic. I unscrewed the nib housing and it looks just like that.

Regarding the finish, I agree. But then I would like to add this to the Internet knowledge so that it can be found by others. I tried to email "Sheaffer Targa" website, but got no reply.

Anyone knows the webmaster of Sheaffer dedicated articles/websites (or even the webmaster of SheafferTarga.com) so that we can put this info out there? How should we call it? Dented Chrome? Is there a name of a similar finish in other models that is widely recognised?

Best.

This could be tedious but sifting through eBay listings might turn one up… or there's the Pen Hero site, or Peyton Street pens (they have listings for the Stylus II and are very knowledgeable.)

Now I'm curious too.  Good luck.

ps, bad photos but possibly similar finish.

I am no sheaffer expert and have no clue what this pen is.

I have an almost Identical one which I got without the original nib and with a push button converter. it was using a lady sheaffer palladium silver Australian nib unit which I was told was a replacement. section is also swappable with the lady sheaffer. There are no other markings on the barrel other than the dot on the clip. So no mentions of sheafer on the cap-lip or anywhere else.

previously had another with a slightly different finish which was more of a brighter rhodium like color it had a red thumb-nail type lady sheaffer nib + section. it might not be its original style as the barrel and the cap was defiantly worn and the nib unit is basically NOS. I don't have this anymore to compare :(.

I saw a brushed gold similar to this under the Lady Sheaffer at SheafferTarga. I wonder if this is a brushed silver colored metal finish.

How interesting @shalitha33 this is really helpful. So probably mine had the nib swapped also, it should be a lady. I always found it strange I had a Stylist II but without the "S" in the clip. And the original auction listing had "lady" in the name.  The nib and section made me thing otherwise.

So it is a lady!

@Penguincollectoris right. The finish is very similar to Lady 908 finish in "SheafferTarga.com", but silver/chrome instead of gold. The rows before that - 905, 906 and 907 - don't have any info or image, so it must be one of these but there is no previous knowledge.

@shalitha33mine is exactly like your first photos and came with a push button converter also (not working unfortunately). The cap closes tightly like yours and leaves a gold ring showing when totally closed. Unlike the Lady 908 in "SheafferTarga.com" that closes completely.

@terim The finish from the 925 you mention is bigger grain and very silvery, it is close but not the same. Mine is more like brushed. The 925 is sea spray. :)

But this was helpful. I think I'm on the right track. Its a Sheaffer Lady 905, 906 or 907, with a swapped nib section with a Stylist II. :P
