Refill for Ballograf Signum

Dear all,

I recently found a Ballograf Signum ballpoint pen without refill in it. It seems from the seventies or eighties. It is way thinner than my Ballograf Epoca: I tried the newer Ballograf refills and the older (with smaller "cap" on the back) and both are too thick for the barrel. Parker style refills are too thick as well.

Do you know what kind of refill is to use in that pen?

Thank you, Chiara

Hi,

I found this picture of the Signum and its refill. It looks very similar in size  to present day Ballograf refills, but it can be that it is thinner like you say.

The present Ballograf refills (which is a Parker style "G2" refill with another top) have a diameter just shy of 6mm and 98mm long.

I dont know of a another refill that would fit if the one in the picture is unavailable nowadays.

Unless...This is a long shot, it takes a Montblanc ballpoint refill as Ballograf made pens for Montblanc in the sixties.

Thank you redpillow. That refill is too thick, but your idea to try a Montblanc refill may be well worth trying! In that decades different concern oft made pens for each other. Thank you for suggesting it! 🙂

I have the same problem with my Signum, is there anybody out here who does know what refill can be used in this pen?

I know that modern Ballograf refill is not going to fit, it's a little bit too big girth-wise. As far as I know people modified knockoff Parker style refills to use with Epoca series Ballograf pens - maybe this will work with Signum too? At some point I'll be forced to try...

Not sure if you problem is already solved. If not, maybe you can contact Ballograf and ask them what kind of refill can be used.

I did that and they've replied that only the older version ("Austenit Refill") will fit. I'm actively searching for 3rd party refill that will be easiest to modify to use with these pens - when I find something I'll publish the guide.

A Montblanc refill is unlikely to fit and an 'Austenite' refill from Ballograf is quite similar in size (length and diameter) compared to a modern 'original' one.
