Hammered Nibs-- I Didn't Know This Was a Thing!

Here is a link to Annabelle Hiller's Opus Cineris Blog and the entry about her "Harmonic Nib" that has hammered elements: www.opuscineris.com/blog/the-harmonic-nib-is-here But if I remember correctly, she also made nib that was completely hammered/carved out to appear like it was hammered for her masterpiece. Cannnot find this one, though.

I was able to confirm its appearance in a video of a different article than the one I read earlier.

I think there were many variations, not only pens with colors like this, but also pens with strong red coloring, green, yellow, blue, etc.

(Color impressions may have changed in my memory.)

The consensus in the discussion seems to be that this type of nib is done with a grinding wheel and nor a hammer. Reminds me of those fake "Damascus" knife now sold.

When that is done to a knife with a grinding wheel, it's called "chipped flint" style.  It doesn't resemble Damascus steel at all.

Thank you @JulieParadise and @Number99 for providing the links to these exciting videos! I didn't know about Opus Cineris before, although knowing Annabelle Hiller from having ground a nib of one of my pens by her.

Both these videos remind me about how an exciting feeling the experience of creating something with the own hands is and knowing no automated process can do it to the same result.

One life!

A fully "hammered" nib by Annabelle Hiller is featured in the video below.

If this smorgasbord of nibs is too dizzying you can open the timeline to jump to the relevant chapter at time 24m 05s.

The surface effect seen in the Annabelle Hiller hammered nib, in the video above, differs from the effect produced by grinding hollows in a nib surface.
