I replaced my #5 nib; does this look right? Also, nib creep issues, etc.

Hi there! :) So, I had a nightmare of a time replacing my Fine Nib with an EF today. I actually ruined the first nib in the process of trying to extract it from its base, but does this look like I've aligned it correctly, and does it look good in general? Asking the forums because I don't trust myself with anything after today. >_<

Thank you in advance! ^_^

PS: The new nib also is having a pretty bad issue with nib creep - see photos. I have to use waterproof black ink because I paint with watercolor, and although apparently that kind of archival ink tends to cause nib creep I haven't had a problem until now! Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix it? I read something about Rain-x but I'm nervous... maybe I should just embrace the beauty of having a lovely fountain pen and stop letting my OCD win. I dunno. 🤷‍♀️

I would go by how well it writes. Is the ink flowing nicely? No misalignment to make it scratchy?

I'm not sure about the nib creep being a thing with waterproof inks - more a colour thing - red and orange being worse than others. And the sealing of the cap is a factor too. I don't think it matters if you are using the pen often so the ink doesn't concentrate to become sticky. Just clean it up and keep using it. Nibs like that with a bit of a curved top are cool for getting a wash effect too - kinda lay it down on the paper and use it for shading - so getting a nib and ink that 'creeps' has an upside. --> :happyberet:

Will work for pens...
