A bit of fun... 'You have 30 seconds to decide. You can only ever have one fountain pen. Which is it to be?'

This Libra knew right away. I’d grab my Visconti Bronze Age Homo Sapiens with stub nib.

🤣🤣🤣🤣   Have to say it usually takes me a while to 'pull the plug'  I think the first and last 'frenzie' I got pulled into was when they released the first TWISBI if you were around back then.

If your car has them, make sure to change your timing belts every 80-100,000 miles. (Or shorter if specified in the manual)

@51ISHI saw it- I think you should go for it, you’ve been very patient since 1988.

I don't really want to drop that kind of money on 'another' pen at the minute and it's an International not a Centennial. 🙁

Wow! No wonder I was confused.  Is that two different inks you have loaded...one for each nib?  Thats amazing.  Tell me more... Do they actually make this pen or  is it a 'one off' made for you

PenBBS based in Shanghai makes this pen in a dozen or so different colors of acrylic, with an MSRP of about $40-50! For that price, I think it’s an absolute must-have. It’s a dual eyedropper fill, with a few different nib options. Most come with two fine nibs. Mine came with a Fine nib on one side, and a Medium Round nib on the other. I inked the fine end with Diamine Claret, and the Med. R end with Blue Pearl. It’s not an amazing writer; I find it flows quite dry, and has a lot of feedback, but that also makes it *very* precise for making fine lines.

I have yet to try the Flexible Nib Factory ebonite feeds in here, but will be ordering one as soon as I next run out of ink in one side.

As an aside, these appear to be discontinued. The PenBBS Official Etsy Store only has four colors still in stock, though different dealers on Ebay will sporadically stock some of the harder-to-find ones as they come up.

I hear you on the money front. I rather like the smaller Internationals, but I have thin lady hands. The current prices on new Duofold pens are crazy. One day you’ll find the right size at the right price.

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Pelikan M300 CIF, Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Sheaffer 3-25 EF ringtop, Skrip Black

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

Does it feel OK in your hand for both nibs? They look kind of 'offset' Looking  Etsy they only have 4  in stock.

Despite being short, I supposedly have 'large' hands  (Size 9 gloves) and 'sausage like' fingers, plus, I'm 'getting on a bit' so larger pens tend to suit me better. ( I've just held the Sonnet BP in my hand and I have no idea how I ever managed to write with it. It feels like it was made for a 12 year old 🤣

For me it would be a Montblanc Meinsterstück 149 with an extra fine nib, this pen fits my hands perfectly 😁

It would have to be a Sheaffer Balance that belonged to my grandfather. Is it my most expensive pen? No. But in this case, the memory of him using it makes it priceless to me.

I have my husband's grandfather's Balance Oversize.  I had to get it repaired and get a replacement cap, but that's the pen I'd like to be able to keep in the family if at all possible -- maybe leave it to my husband's great nephew when the kid gets older.

Yes, I know, that comment 'hit home' for me too. While I haven't got any of my ancestors pens, it made me realize I had never even considered a pen set my Mother had bought for me at Christmas in 1988. It's not even in my 'rotation'.  It's a Sonnet. It's getting inked tomorrow.

Not really sure what you mean—are you talking about how one is right side up and the other upside down? I mean, that kinda doesn’t matter because I only use one half at a time 🤔

The bigger concerns are the sizable step from barrel to grip, and the back-weighted nature of the second nib and cap. It’s not the best pen to hold in my hand, but it’s not bad, and it’s definitely the most versatile pen in my collection.

Seems if one had 30 seconds to grab a pen, one could sweep up a handful if they were all laying next to each other on the desk.

But, ok, probably my trusty little Pelikan 140, modest, unassuming, reliable and possibly shinier than the day it was new. It's become something of an EDC recently.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I was of the same opinion, but I was quickly disabused of my nefarious notion.

It's my thread, I decide on the rules 😋

Pelikan 140 looks like it might make a good 'First Pelikan' I may look into them further. Shame most of them seem to be in Germany, as we have to pay import duties and all sorts of other shananagans these days 🙁
