Looks like unscrewing hood from body is also quite hard. Is it glued or just tight screwed?

It is probably secured with shellac, which is a light adhesive when it dries; it can be loosened with dry heat.

Most people advise not removing the hood unless you need to, because it is pretty easy to crack them, and you can't really repair a cracked hood invisibly. But I have to admit, removing the hood is almost the only way to get all the old ink out of the collector (the "feed" on a Parker 51). You can soak and soak and you'd be amazed how much dried ink will still be in there. To remove the hood you would need a source of dry heat (like a hair dryer, or hobby stores may have a small heat gun), and some grippy pieces of rubber or something to help you grasp the hood and the barrel firmly. If you want more, PM me and I'll give you a rundown of the way I do it.

@Bo Bo Olson

On no, I have no intention to look for vintage inks, I am afraid I have to many modern ones already. But good thing is to know that they can last for quite a time.

@Paul-in-SF

Thanks for info. I found some videos on youtube about changing vacum sac on Parker 51, so all I can do now is wait for it to arrive.
