@Mercian, there is also a Cross blue ATX that looks similar. It doesn’t look quite as vibrant, more of a greyish blue, but it could be the light.

Mind you that this product photography is often done with a hellish smack of fierce white light, that can easily distort one's impression of colorshade. Relating specifically to this particular pen too I had observed this confusing difference of rendering before. So naturally I wondered then whether these pictures are actually of the same pen? Didn't get around to investigating that though.

  I missed this until now, you have two of the blue and white (or cream, hard to tell) Pelikans that I really like. What’s the next to last pen in the picture?

@carola, your collection gives me the worst pen envy, I swear. You have such beautiful pens! The Skylines and the lapis Pelikan are superb. I think your dad’s school pen is awesome, more so for the wabi-sabiness of it.

Fun fact: Although my father´s pen is an old, cheap, well used and beat up school pen (and has an F nib which I usually don´t like), it writes suprisingly well. When he gave it to me, it looked a lot worse and I just thought, oh hell, what am I supposed to do with that? But nevertheless I decided to clean it up and try it - and I was truly surprised. It´s a keeper.

I had never even heard of that model before.  You're so lucky to have a "family heirloom" pen -- the closest I have is the Sheaffer Balance Oversize which had belonged to my husband's grandfather (and which, when my mother-in-law gave it to me a few years ago, had the cap for HER old Eversharp Skyline jammed onto it so hard, I had to find someone at the Commonwealth Pen Show that year (part of the reason we'd chosen that weekend to drive up to visit her was so I could go to the show) with section pliers to remove it -- I was afraid of breaking the pen or cap or both....  

Trying to figure out which of my husband's great nieces & nephews would be happiest inheriting it, given of course that it's several generations ago at this point....

Santa brought me a brace of blue pens: a Lamy Aion and a Pilot Cocoon. If you look closely at the Aion you can see I've swapped the stainless nib for a 14K nib.

  The blue Aion always catches my eye, it’s lovely! I always replace steel Lamy nibs  with a gold one because they really are so different.  Should you want a gold nib for the cocoon, the Wing Sung 698 has a 14k nib  (it was under $50 USD for me on Aliexpress) that fits all of the Pilots that use that nib: Cocoon/Metropolitan/MR, Prera, and Penmanship.
