Sigh, I've a cheap old blind cap pen out for repair....that I'd not thought to add to my blue list. An Inwitz, with an Artus clip. It must have been one of the last of the blind cap pens, in the plastic feels cheap. It is an EEF, which I decided I need for editing.

I'd never bought it, but it was in a lot of a live auction.

I'm too cheap to buy EEF or narrower Japanese pens...so I spend more on the repair than it's worth..........oh well, it's mine and should work.

I have never heard of Inwitz. There must be so many little brands of pens out there that probably write a treat, just waiting for the right person to come get them. I hope you are able to take a picture of it, even if it’s not great, just so I can see what it looks like. Editing is a great reason to have a very thin pen, easier to write in between lines and in the margins and to add footnotes. I found all of my Japanese soft ultra/extra/fine pens here in the States for under $50. I suspect that some were ground that way, they are all mid 20th century style pens and softer than the current Platinum offerings.

AH HA....after chalking....Singwitz.....just saw it was an S, not a circle.

It's not a brand I ever heard of before either.

Between the Wars there were more than 250 'manufacturers' of fountain pens in Germany. Most ordered parts from the big boys and put them together for sale to local mom&pop stores/newstands or those newfangled department stores.

So there were bound to be a few that survived until the ball point arrived.

Well I just opened my old plastic box I use to ship off things for repair (going off on Monday), and pulled it out. And the wife just made pictures.

Chalked to show. Click to enlarge.

veQaiEf.jpg

Artus is in very small print on the bottom part of the clip. (I have Artus pens. Artus was bought u by Lamy to make regular flex nibs to his Lamy nails, back just after or just before the War.

Artus was more a maker of plastic extrusion machinery or had one, so that was needed for modern pen design.

This too small and unsharp to read the letters, just seeing how small and where they are is all I could get...When clicked to make it larger.PMExaQO.jpg

Will check to see if clicking will make it larger....in I get Imgur for free, I've not been able to chop and expand.

This is a blind cap piston filler..

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

I really like that royal blue and black trim combination, very striking. It’s a lovely pen. Artus pens I have run into before. I like the Art Deco look of the clip. I can see the Artus branding on it. Can you tell me what it says under Singwitz? Your wife takes good pictures.

Singwitz on google now

Ah, Ha.

Fortschritt is progress.

Now to follow the leader into the jungles of google.

Ah Ha, an East German pen.....I have just one Markant....the name they lopped all their foutnain pen makers under in 1957, Txomsy, has a great post on Singwitz and a much prettier  Singwitz pen. .

@Penguincollector that material is still available on other pen models in the closeout sale.

My pen friend loves the model 20. It has a recessed nib and a snap cap.

That model is also very pretty, but my paypal needs a break. I went ham on Peacock Blue ink and one of my grails this week. If I am meant to have one, it will find me.

Here's my Pelikan M805 in the pre-2022 translucent striped cellulose.

Lovely pen! I would love a blue striped in that size. Are you using ama-iro in it currently? I was wondering if it was too wet an ink to use in a Pelikan or not.

I mostly use Iroshizuku inks in all my pens. I've not found it too wet. I'm also a big fan of shading and colour-change inks so my taste veers towards the broad and stub nib end of the spectrum :)

Thank you! I love all of the new chromashading and other fun inks. My writing is mainly tiny and can get overwhelmed by large nibs, but I do love how they apply ink and the way they feel. I love stubs and italics for calligraphy and just putting an ink through its paces and seeing what it can do.

Iroshizuku inks

I have a single bottle of Kon-piki, in at €25 a bottle here in Germany, that was a try only ink.

I set a limit of €20 for inks, and MB, CvFC and CA'D have priced themselves out of my reach....and the Edelstein ink just cracked € 20.50 at my B&M...Mail cost would = that and more for cheaper online prices. In I have some 15 or so, it would have to be right up my alley for me to add to my collection of Edelstein inks.

In wet Japanese inks are made for narrow nibs, like Waterman,  I might not have...of the 25 I have cards for Pelikan pens, I haven't.....

Got to update my cards...in I think I have 35 Pelikans, not 25.

Pilot Iroshizuku ink was selling for upwards of £30 a bottle here in the UK.

So I ordered most of my Iroshizuku ink from Plaza Japan. I order five or six bottles at a time and select DHL as the courier. The net cost (landed) is around £15 a bottle... sometimes a little less.

If you got to https://www.plazajapan.com and search 'Iroshizuku', they sell them for around £7.00 a bottle, not including shipping. All genuine, all good, I've done it many (too many 🤣) times.
