ID Waterman Expert pen model???

Hi All. Hoping someone can advise. My wife stumbled on a Waterman Expert for a whopping £1. After a good clean out it is actually in a pretty good condition.

I'm confused by what model it is though. It has all the features of a Mk1, seems to have a plastic body and definitely a plastic cap, markings correspond most with a mk1 as well, however, it has a mk2 nib.

It also came in a box that I believe was actually for a Le Man 100 as it has the word "ideal" in it with a picture of a globe.

I suspect this might have been a very early mk2, that was essentially just a swap of nib from the mk1. Or someone replaced the mk1 Nib with a new one.

Hoping someone has some insight. Adding some pics...

Could it be that the Mk2 section + nib was fitted onto the Mk1 pen? If the barrel is actually brass, rather than plastic, then it could be a Mk2 pen with a Mk1 cap.

(I got a black Mk2 with gold trim for about $3. It's a tough, reliable, classy-looking pen.)

@PithyProlix it might be. I checked again now.. Inside the barrel there is a brass lining, but the threads inside the barrel that screw onto the section seem to be plastic and I can see the plastic inside behind this brass lining, so the barrel does seem to be plastic, and it has that type of feel.. Section is definitely plastic, but I'm not sure what the mk2 sectiin was supposed to be made of..

You have a Expert II nib for sure. The brass liner is another sign of a Expert II. From the photos, it appears you have an Expert II pen with a Expert I cap as it does not have the gold colored top piece. I just acquired a medium nib Expert II and love it. Also have a Phileas (not Kulture) fine nib pen and love it also.

Fir Willie C - $3 wow! I paid $28 and felt good about it.

Thanks a lot @Lee Dawson! That's what I thought, but the pen body definitely does not seem to be lacquered brass; it seems to be plastic, with slight brass lining internally.. Not sure if the Mk1 has this...

Either way, it's turned out to be a really nice pen! So super happy, especially considering the £1 ($1.24) price tag! 😁
