Howdy!

I have a vintage fountain pen that I’m having trouble getting more information about. I would guess it’s from the 1960s; it has “FLAIR” at the bottom of the cap and a logo on the clip that I know I’ve seen before but I can’t place it. It doesn’t seem to be from the Flair company in India, although I know they’ve been around a while so I suppose it’s possible. And it’s not the Paper Mate logo so probably not related to the felt tip pens. I know Waterman had a Flair model, but it doesn’t look like this and it’s not the Waterman logo. It has an Esterbrook Renew-Point nib unit which I’m assuming is not original.

After trying every search on the internet that I could think of, I couldn’t find anything definitive. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
—Hagbard Celine

Probably a Venus product after it became one with Esterbrook.

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

Ah, that would make sense. I’d forgotten about the Venus connection. I’ll explore further.

Thanks!

On further searching, I’m somewhat sure this isn’t a Venus. In particular, the logo is wrong. The Venus logo is a V in a circle, rather than the stylized pen logo on this clip. And I’m still sure I’ve seen that logo long before I knew Venus pens existed.

The search continues…

My limited knowledge of pens other than Esterbrook/Venus accepting their screw in nib units:

Osmiroid 65

Osmiroid 75 (but not Quick Change)

Pelikan 200 series

Pelikan 400 series (but the first year model)

Platignum (?)

hm, didn't mean that to be alphabetical but there it is...

Also Rapidograph {at least some), Sengbusch, and Tuckersharpe (the last two I read about, not personal knowledge). And Platignum uses changeable nibs but they’re not the same as the Osmiroid, etc. nib units—at least none of the ones I have, I’m not an expert on Platignum.

Thanks for your suggestion. I’m still looking for this one. That logo just drives me nuts because I know I’ve seen it before.

As others have said, this is a Parker Vector stainless steel. They are very practical. I find quite a lot of stock of them in shops in Greece and in the UK. I have had the same gift from my father, too. As a result, these pens have special value for me.

No expert here, but the barrel, section, and nib are the spitting image of my Esterbrook CX-100 from the '60s. Could it be the cap is a replacement?

Wow, that’s so obvious it never occurred to me. I’ll check out the CX-100.  Thanks!
