Fritz Schimpf Sundowner

This ink was part of blind ink testing on another pen site.

It was a revelation and if I were not so much fixated on waterproof inks, this would be my go-to reddish orange ink. The ink has a softness to it, and every time I use it, it fills me with joy.

However, as there’s no such thing as a perfect ink, this ink has one major drawback. The cleaning is a pain. It took me two days, three helping of pen solution to remove the red dye. So be forewarned, if you’re ink hopper.

Great review, @yazeh! :)  It looks quite different from different nibs.  Reminds me a little of MB Corn Poppy Red (reviewed a while ago, but not posted yet) - but this is maybe more orange.  The two days of cleaning is a deal-killer for me, though!  Thanks for the warning. (No idea where to get Fritz Schimpf inks anyway. ;) )

Yep. I was quite surprised. It just wouldn't clean. But that's red/pink inks for you. I read somewhere that some of their inks were made by Califolio. But I can't be sure :)

You can find it on their website:

Thanks again for another great review. Subjectivity is where it's at! Keep that up!! I too love the "ability" of an ink to show off so many different tones depending on the pen and nib. Apart from that, I'm happy that you have now just provided me with yet another sample in our collection of blood!!!
