Fordite?

Does anyone here turn out fordite as pen barrels and / or caps?  I have only recently become aware of this stuff, and it can be stunningly colourful, and probably very durable.  I expect the biggest issue is getting chunks large enough to bore out and lathe out as a barrel and cap - it can be pretty expensive.

They turn up on etsy from time to time - most often as horrid kit pens, but occasionally in something more pleasing.

I’ve seen a few, mostly cheapy stuff or grotesquely ugly neolithic pregnant female goddess shapes.  It seems like such a nice medium for colourful and tasteful pens.  I have zero machinist skills, but wish I had for something like this.

I believe Michael Riggs made a few Fordite pens.  I saw them in Baltimore last year...gorgeous pens.
