A very old mechanical pencil - what is it?

I just found this old mechanical pencil and I would like to know what it is. Where and when was it made and by whom? My pencil is in a terrible condition with cracks in the plastic (or is it plastic?). It seems to be ready to get recycled. Still, it seems to be almost pre-historic being a mechanical pencil and when looking at the bits and pieces inside it seems that someone has put a lot of effort in making an advanced pen for people who enjoy quality items. Any ideas?

It looks to me like bakelite. I don't even know if bakelite is repairable. It would be fun trying 😎

Thanks for the replies. I couldn't find any pictures of the interior parts of an Autopoint but I am sure you know a lot more than I do about this.

I googled for ideas on how to repair bakelite and there are quite a few collectors of old telephones and radios who do this. It seems quite difficult and I am not sure it would work at all when restoring a mechanical pencil.

I just had a closer look and it says No 302 next to the clip. It isn't absolutely anonymous after all:)
