This is the name Leonardo Officina Italiana has given to their new nib engraving design. It is being used on their current JoWo Steel nibs and on the 14 Kt gold nibs they make in-house. The steel nibs write no differently by virtue of the updated engraving. I now have 3 of the new gold nibs - all 1.4mm stubs. They are very well made and very wet writers. To use them for italic handwriting, I have had to go to the driest inks I have - Pelikan and Montegrappa.

Here are a couple photos of a gold "La Fenice" nib:

Happy writing!

La Fenice is a famous opera house in Venice.  La Fenice is "the phoenix" so perhaps the nib engraving is somewhat reminiscent of a winged phoenix rising from the flames.
