I know that the end pieces on the Parker 45 are difficult to replace.

The nibs and barrel, however, are easily replaceable.

Gold-plated nibs are easily recognizable because the iridium tips are also plated.

The iridium tip on an unplated nib glows silver.

What I am describing as an iridium tip may actually be another alloy that is not iridium.

This model is the one with the gold-plated nibs.

*I have quoted product images of the pens I purchased from the Internet.

Supplementary explanation.

Except for the final Parker 45 with the cabochon cap in the image attached to my post above, I have captured a Parker 45 with a gold-plated nib.

I got a Parker 45 Flighter Deluxe no tassie, late production 1980-2000 with date code IIIT 1995 Made in UK.

It had a gold plated X nib.

The gold plating on the clip is also more golden than the older version and matches the color of the nib.

Also, I don't think the parts were misplaced as I got it from an owner who only owned one fountain pen that she was given as a gift.

Please note also Flighter Deluxe no tassie if you want to sort and buy gold nibs vs. gold plated nibs.

Observe the pen point carefully.

I have found, subjectively, that the gold-plated nibs write smoother than the gold nibs.

However, the gold-plated nibs I have obtained that are engraved only with the word "PARKER" have partially flaked off the plating.
