I’m waiting for 2 demonstrators, a clear with gold trim, and a blue with chrome trim. Also a blue  “press type” pen, mostly so I have a cap for the penguin themed one that didn’t come with one, but the metallic royal blue is pretty on its own.

Top 5 of 26 (in no particular order) currently inked pens:

Pelikan M300 CIF, Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl

MontBlanc 144R F, Diamine Bah Humbug

Pelikan M605 F, Pelikan Edelstein Moonstone

Waterman Caréne Black Sea, Teranishi Lady Emerald

Pilot 742 FA, Namiki Purple cartridge

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

In my entire life I only received one pen by mail, a Pelikan 100N, by a guy who was trustworthy, and the price was decent. It was worth it. Normally, I neither can afford collectors items with corresponding price tags from professional dealers, nor feel good bying pens I havent had in my hands and personally inspected.

Therefore, no pens by mail for me.

This is my personal approach and I’m glad there are other points of view. It must be a great feeling, waiting for a pen arriving by mail. Only too exciting for me.

More little by little purchases:

Diplomat Excellence, black.

Geha 725, that would be my third; it only took about six months to get the previous one going.

Sheaffer silver Imperial.

Platinum president, black.

Omas Milord, black.

Waterman 33, brushed steel, that would be my second.

Sailor Black Luster, couldn't say no to a small price dip last night.

It finally dawned on me: this is the exact measure of my lack of will power 😔

It's more what am I waiting from from the airport.  My wife is on a biz trip to Singapore and Melbourne.  She called me from SIngapore asking what size nib I like on my Pelikans! I have no idea what is coming beyond that question... :)

Just won on German Ebay............something I'd been wanting for a long time. A tortoise 400nn.

and it is a very bright one...don't know if it's black or dark brown.Other pictures look black.

The Etue is not original, but that' ok.

It looks a touch brighter than my Pelikan 500 and '54 transition 400 tortoises.

I have a '91-97Germany Pelikan  tortoise, that has a brown cap and piston cap so black, I had to call my wife in to make sure it was 'brown'...comparing it to a known black pen, it was still hard.

Rudiger had mentioned 'brown' caped Pelikan 400's, and I went and took a look, just in case and it was.,,,a brown-black-black.

The Kaweco/Galen pen arrived. I did look at it, very nice blue. I decided it should be saved for my birthday since it is named for my birthstone. That meant I got out the Kaweco/Goldspot Ultimate Gray pen.

Another Pilot Kakuno with a grey body and an orange cap. A fine nib as usual. I saw one in a picture earlier this evening and was surprised cos I didn't know it existed. A sunny colour for the depths of winter. Oh yeah. A quick hunt around found one at a local online store. On sale too.

Now for a nice subdued orange ink. 🧡

Will work for pens...

Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-yake? I find it almost too subdued coming out of a pen that isn't wet-writing.

Personally, I like the relatively new Teranishi Orchestra Tangerine (which isn't too garish, in the way Pilot Iroshizuku Fuyu-gaki is quite); but Robert Oster Burned Orange isn't bad at all.

Waiting impatiently for this Duke 2009 Fountain Pen Memory Charlie Chaplin Big Size Limited Edition (M nib, purple) bought on eBay & currently in limbo between China & the UK - apparently it's arrived in the UK as I have a RM tracking number but it's not recognised 😟

Funny story: I bought the black version from Amazon a year or so back, put it away somewhere safe & now, obviously, can't find it!

You are not the only one with a lost pen that was put in a very safe place and can not be found. And when you repurchase the same model the first pen appears in the scene. It has happened to me.

Well, funnier still, this evening, while putting something away in a cupboard I don't often use, I randomly found the lost Duke Chaplin pen! It was together with an old notebook I used for making notes of pens & inking. I had filled the pen with Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris ink according to my notes so cleaned the pen out ready to refill it with said R&K Verdigris .... now I can't find this ink! I mean, seriously?

I've now got a second one on the way, in purple. The original is deep blue.

I had that same problem last night but not with pens or inks.

I needed to set up a new flyfishing reel and couldn't find the backing nor the line I bought and put away months ago in anticipation of future needs.  I knew where I had put my little cache and it wasn't there.  'Look in the morning', me thinks.  Some time around 3AM it came to me that i had moved the box with my fishing spares because it was in the way.  Happiness was found in a cupboard in the garage.

Nice! I have resorted to keeping a database/spreadsheet of misc items locations. Works really well as long as I remember to add an item to it.

I've considered doing that, but I've never been a fan of 'paperwork'.  As close as I've come is actually labeling boxes.

I have a trio of steel-nibbed Filcaos heading my way:

  • Atlantica with a Chilton-type pneumatic filling system, in green pearl celluloid.
  • Silvia button-filler, black cap with green pearl celluloid body.
  • Another Silvia, green and black rippled ebonite-like body.

Edit: just received a message from the vendor, lucantage70. He very kindly added an Egiptia as a bonus, so now I have a quartet of Filcaos on the way.
