I ordered a Montblanc 149 Centenary/Origin pen.

I managed to get a Halloween/Fountain pen day discount on it too (15%!). It seems that some retailers - such as Cult Pens & Wheelers Luxury gifts are including MB (fountain) pens on their discounts this week.

I cheekily tried it - expecting the usual (polite) no - as MB is usually not included.

Did you go with the steel nib or gold?  I don't own a Diplomat (yet 🙂), I've heard their steel nibs are particularly smooth and nice writers.

I got it with the steel nib. In many brands I am just as happy with steel. I have a Diplomat Aero and the steel nib is wonderful. I actually find the Aero section slippery, but a single layer of clear tape fixes that. The Excellence section isn't slippery from what the reviews say.

Laguna Niguel, California.

Ordered a Leonardo Momento Zero Grande 2.0 in sea anemone with a fine nib for FPD!  20% off on Appelboom’s.  They said it was not in stock immediately so they ordered one and told me 2-3 weeks…going to be a long wait! lol

Not really waiting in the mail but the other day in a resale store in LaCrosse, WI I saw a Parker Big Red.

I wanted it so bad, but it was dark and I wasn't confident in my eyes without a loupe and decent lighting. I wasn't allowed to open it to see if it was restored, had any cracks, or pretty much anything.

They wanted $400 and I walked away. Half of me feels smart and half of me...

Inked pens:

PFM III Bue with an XF nib and Pilot blue black

Parker Vacumatic with a medium nib, J Herbin Perl Noir

Diamond Point Flat Top fine flex nib with ESSRI iron gall

Platinum 3776 65th anniversary Godzilla pen Fine nib J Herbin Perl Noir

ASA Nauka ebonite fine nib with Iroshizuku Shin Kai

Hero 616 fine with Iroshizuku Shin Kai

I agree, but I can empathize with the dealer. He rents out booth space, it wasn't his pen, and it was an expensive piece of merchandise. I wouldn't let just anyone start taking it apart.

On the other hand I was looking for an excuse to buy the pen and in the end it didn't work out.

Not long ago I walked away from a vintage Conklin Crescent. I have one of those already with an awesome flex nib and I got cheap at the wrong moment. I can go months without seeing anything, then I let two good ones get away. Go figure.

O más que muchas otras 😉

(My apologies to everyone for posting in Spanish, especially because my only reason for doing it was so that I could upload what is a bad pun.)

I think that it is a very attractive, er, homage.

I have seen that the same beast can also be had in black, or red, or white as well as in yellow, and all with silver-coloured trim instead of gold-coloured, so one of those could well have ended-up living with me.

Its lack of an ink-window puts me off from buying one (I'm a fussy old curmudgeon).
Apart from that though, it appears (QC permitting) to otherwise be a very attractive pen

I, for one, would love to read your impressions of it once you have been using it for a while.

You don't happen to know if there's any sort of forums like FPN for Spanish-speakers, do you? I have a number of extended family members who have loved the FPs I've given them, and would like to learn more and talk with others, but speak very little English.

I'm not fluent enough to do well with locating the best search term phrases to find resources to help them find the best online forums to learn about FP operation/maintenance/repair.

Sorry for going OT, if that's unwelcome!

Waiting for what looks (in auction photos) to be a very clean PFM-II,  which fills a spot in my collection.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

Hi,
I just did a Google search for "Foro de pluma estilográfica", and I found the following one:
https://estilograficas.mforos.com/

I only had one year of Spanish in High School (and that was back in 'Nineteen-Hundred-and-Frozen-to-Death'), and so I very much cannot speak the language 😔
I must therefore report that I have no idea whether or not that is the 'best' forum in Spanish, or the only one, or just one out of many.

I would also advise you to search for groups for 'plumas esilográficas' on Facebook, and then see whether any of those groups also link to external forum websites.

I wish you good luck in your search

Slàinte,
M.
