What pen(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

@RedPie Was your light a ceiling light or a lamp? My living room is odd. It had two doors off it. A spiral staircase takes up a corner.  The outside wall has a fireplace between two windows. There is a hanging light behind the TV that doesn’t get used much because it’s distracting from TV viewing. Otherwise there are two table lamps in the room. One is behind my chair, the other is across the room from it.

Congratulations on the Kyoto, Misfit!

Thank you very much. Part of writing about wanting the Kyoto in letters was I wished a letter reader would say I know someone with one of those. And maybe that someone would say, sure I’ll sell it. Ha!

I haven’t succeeded at InCoWriMo, but at least I’m writing letters again. I need to get over wanting to write a really good letter, and just write.

You always write a good letter. Just my opinion,  but it is an educated one.

Aw, you made my day. Thank you my friend. Maybe I’ll start on one today. I might be close to halfway through what I owe in letters. I feel bad because I agreed to write with someone from France. Then I put that letter where the other waiting letters were, and they stayed there, languishing.

Ouch. I guess you can always write and hope that they will write back. ✍️

Wouldn't a rechargeable magnetic closet lamp do? They come with a self-adhesive thin metal plaque that you attach wherever you want (not just as headlights, floor or walls as well) and the lamp attaches magnetically to it, hence being easy to fix and remove. They charge by USB and have a proximity and light sensor, so they only turn on when someone is close and is dark enough.

Mines can last weeks or more depending on use and when they run out I simply use a typical USB charger.

Something like this (for example):

https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-Magnetic-Cordless-Lighting-Aluminium

(there are also smaller and larger ones, BTW).

I've found that -as which many Chinese products- there is some variation in quality and may need replacement after one or two years because the battery fails to charge well, so there are probably better solutions out there, but may get you started.

I hate that LEDs were originally designed to last a lot longer than light bulbs... just like original light bulbs anyway, but LED based products always have some component designed to fail (like modern light bulbs) so you must keep on buying them, and more frequently each time. But... so is modern marketing and design.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Also, check endoscope on AliExpress and other sources.

Might be useful in some cases.

Have fun!

I have a black resin Pilot Elabo with SEF nib on its way from Japan, and a black Divine Design eyedropper with F nib that was something of an impulse buy from ebay.

It was and is a ceiling light. I just added a light that comes down from the ceiling over my desk area. That gives me a perfect light to inspect pens or take pictures.

This is a weird light that's surprisingly good. Someone was decluttering and gave me this ring light thingy meant for selfies.

I have it attached to the side table next to where I sit. It's a gooseneck so I can position it to shine where I need it - over the book and not in my face. The second gooseneck that holds a phone - useful for drawing cos I can have it showing a photo I'm using as reference. There are switches to control brightness and the colour of the light - cool, warm or natural - really good when working with colour. All for less than AU$10 from Kmart, I believe.

And if I give up reading, drawing and playing with the watercolour I can become a YouTuber.

Will work for pens...

This pen and the ink are unrelated. The matching pen will be announced later.

Those ring lights are useful for macro photography, prevents shadows.  I'd get one myself but my photography activity has been way down the past few years.

Hm, I gotta say that sounds like a marketing failure, but I've only recently jumped on the Pelikan bandwagon and don't know a lot of things. Hence my confusion.

Typically they announce the ink in the spring and the matching pen in the summer. Then the Pelikan Hub is in September, and most years part of the swag for attendees is a bottle of the Ink of the Year. I suspect the pens just aren't ready as early in the year. Once available they do have a gift box with both pen and ink as well as separately.

The pen from Peyton Street Pens got shipped today. Expected arrival is Friday.

The notebooks (4 Apica and 4 Neo Deco Constellation (all A5)) arrived today.

The Birmingham inks... well... we will see. (Ordered 2/15) Maybe by March 1st?

I had a Twist. It's one of the pens I tried and then gave away. Its ergonomics didn't work for me since I am lefthanded.

My BP order took 17 days to ship, including weekends. Then another week to hit my porch, but that was during peak shipping season and I think a "named winter storm" slowing things down.
