What pen(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

@txomsy my brother’s vintage Parker 51 went through the washer, and survived. It got ink on a new T-Shirt of mine. My style of washer is an older one with the agitator in the middle.

I am curious. What happened to it?

In principle, I do not see a reason why you FP should die from going through a washing cycle. I can see it ruining the laundry if it was loaded with ink, specially permanent ink, but in principle (that is only my opinion) it should go through unscathed.

The pen, a Kaweco Special, was in a pen pocket of a jumper that I put through a complete wash cycle in the washing machine and the through the dryer. It was still in the pocket when I took the clothes out the dryer. Up one finding it and thinking it was intact, I unscrewed the cap and then the section to check the converter. The converter was empty which surprised me. I only realised that the nib was missing when I began drying and assembling the pen.  The nib had come undone from the feed and was thoroughly stuck to the inside of the cap's plastic sleeve. I suspect that the heat of the dryer softened the plastic.

Sooo I may have used a discount code on top of a sale to preorder the Pelikan m200 orange demonstrator. And I stumbled across what looked like a good deal on a Sailor 1911 large palladium with a 21k fine nib; yes, another boring black cigar, but I love those Sailor 18k and 21k nibs, plus palladium!

The old-style m205 I snagged via EBay from a German vendor (who shipped from Greece, must be holidays for the guy) is in US customs. Probably won't see that until next week.

Thanks for the explanation on the fate of that poor Kaweco Sport. That makes me happier to think mine are AL or Bronze... though as better heat conductors, may be the nib unit would suffer instead. But a nib unit is very easy to replace.

I would suggest a Schon Dsgn Pocket 6 for laundry duty.  Mine was in a pair of jeans that was washed and dried.  The pen was unharmed although all the ink from the almost full cartridge had emptied into the cap.  Not a drop touched clothing.  Kudos to Ian Schon.  The guy really knows how to design a pen that seals!  No wonder it always starts whenever I use it.

Is that seller Wasupen? If so I think that's their normal operation, got a blue Perfecto and a Greif nib from them, it was fun to track the shipping... In greek. Great seller, always with an interesting selection.

I'll have a look at buying a Schon, but I think I need to remember to check pockets better.  Or both. 😉

Yes. S/he was quite patient with me. I'm trying to not obsessively check tracking. That way I can be surprised when it shows up!

Wow, I have to look into those pens. Better than any advertising. 😀

Color me amazed, this pen is out for delivery! Chances are excellent it won't hit my mailbox until after I go to bed (night shift, ugh) so won't have anything to report until tomorrow or Thursday.

I’m waiting on what I think is a Levenger True Writer in Kyoto, which is tracking to arrive on Monday. Another pen, a Kaweco AL Mercury Orange with a BB nib is tracking to arrive tomorrow. Fun! I do hope I identified the True Writer correctly as the eBay seller doesn’t know.

Thank you @RedPie I’m liking it more and more. The living room isn’t the brightest room, so pens can’t show off as well. I have to take it to rooms with better lighting to see them in their proper glory.

I had the same issue and then I put up a light. Now I can see my pens great and I am happy about it every day.

Congratulations on the Kyoto, Misfit!

Ordered a new pen tonight from Peyton Street Pens. It's one of their PSP exclusives with Ranga. It's their Monterey model, in Orange/Black swirl with an Architect Broad nib. Specialty grinds are an extra $25. The earliest it would ship is Tuesday, so maybe by next weekend? They are in California and I am in Utah.
