What pen(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

Oh, the clear Pelikan. I used to want one.

I’ve only collected all the current Pilot Prera pens. I really like their CM nibs. Plus that snap cap!

I had a Pelikan M250 Clear Demonstrator made for Levenger back in the 2000s which I  stained purple with Noodler's Iraqi Indigo, surprising no one, and then stripped the polish off of the thing trying to clean it with straight ammonia. An expensive lesson which I hope I will not repeat. I'd better google non staining inks before it arrives.

And  what, pray tell, is a CM nib?

Pen of the Day in the Mail club.

I was in Pen of the Week in the Mail Club

😁

I hadn't bought any new pens in, maybe, three and a half years? I think I had a bit of a backlash buying spree. I have resolved to have more self control in the new year,

Having said that, I now also have a Pelikan K620 Athens ballpoint in the mail to pair with my matching fountain pen. I never even let my M620s out of the house, so no idea what I need a set for. The price was just too good to pass up. Thanks eBay! Also, the Athens is really pretty.

Pilot’s name for the italic nib they offered for the Metropolitan, Prera and others. Short for Calligraphy Medium,  maybe.

Will work for pens...

I'll admit that "cursive medium" would have been my guess as well....

I’ve always thought it stood for Calligraphy. Seems like I read that somewhere.

I was trying to find information. One result was here.  @A Smug Dill posted, including a packaging photo, that it is Calligraphy Medium.

Actually, it was a screenshot of a page on Pilot's website:

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. Thank you, @A Smug Dill  I think in my head I knew that was a website. But in my tiredness, I typed photo. It’s good you shared it here.

And a Happy New Year to All.

The three pens I was waiting for arrived today.

large.IMG_0387.jpeg.ed58c1414a47bfdd6473e54b7a590ad7.jpeg

The top pen was in one package. It’s a Monteverde Prima in red swirl with a 1.1mm stub nib. The other two arrived together. The TWSBI Eco cream and rose gold has a 1.1mm stub nib. The Kaweco Sport Skyline White has a B nib.

I keep writing it as cream, but it seems the TWSBI spelling is creme.

Just noticed the creme has rose gold fittings. Quite a lovely detail.

Back in early November I ordered a Lamy Studio in Glacier along with an extra fine 14k nib. It was on pre-order. Yesterday I saw that the nib was in stock but the Glacier Studio was not. So I emailed the company if I could swap the Glacier colorway with the Rose colorway. They agreed and now I have the Lamy Studio in matte Rose coming. I got both the pen and 14k nib for just over $100. It was worth the wait. This will be my 5th Studio and 3rd with a gold nib. One each with a medium, fine and extra fine nib.

I wait until the Lamy gold nibs go on sale and I get another one. I wish they had the stubs in gold. I don't have a broad in gold yet. Maybe next time? Plus I am a big fan of the Lamy Studio.

Next up will be three of the rubberized black sections for the three Studios that have the metal sections.

@Baka1969 I like the sleek and elegant collection you're building there.

My first Pelikan Limited Edition, the 1935 Jade, just drop shipped to me. I'm quite excited to see if there's much difference between it and the Special Edition Brown Tortoiseshell M101N. The Limited Editions are usually priced three, four, maybe more times the price of the Special Editions; so will the workmanship be notably different? I highly suspect the main price difference is in the manufactured exclusivity, but I'm prepared to be pleasantly surprised.

I do really enjoy my pens, inks, paper, et al, but sometimes I feel a little silly being so excited at buying the same model with slightly different materials over and over again. That's on me. But this one is green!

Not only do I have the different colors, I also have the different nib configurations. This way at a glance I can choose my mighty weapon of choice.

As you can see the 5th floor of Maison de Plume is the Lamy floor. It has one more slot left that will house the Rose Studio.

I’m waiting on my first pen order of 2024, a Pilot Explorer in white with black trim, and M nib. I expect I’ll swap the nib with a CM nib.
