What pen(s) are you waiting for in the mail?

Yeah.  And that's with having my PayPal account connected to ONE credit card and NOT to my bank account....  There's no WAY I'm letting them have access to my checking account....

Baka,

That is a very nice MB...from when?

I've not seen one, live.

Silver, rolled silver, silver plated?

I have a Rotring 900 stylograph on the way, along with an Aurora Amica Torino and an Esterbrook J with an Osmiroid copperplate nib.

Oh, and a fine-nibbed PenBBS 355.

The motherload: All purchases from the past year arrived at the same time as some had been waiting with a friend for a year:

Faber Castell Ambition replacement nib unit, went for an M.

Diplomat Excellence, F, black and chrome; did not disappoint, trying with Tanzanite.

Geha 72 Goldschwinge B; this will be my third, luckliy it writes smoothly from the get go, seems to get along great with Edelstein Topaz.

Sheaffer imperial chiselled design or whatever it's called; my one mistake, turns out it's gold, not silver, yuck!

Waterman 52; enough said!

Platinum President M; this is one nice pen! Low price.

Omas Milord F; the piston is busted and yet the thing writes beautifully.

Waterman (Gentleman 33?) in brushed steel, F; my second one because I have no self control when it comes to pens; bargain price though.

Sailor 1911 Black Luster F: exquisite.

Perfecto Superior F, black with brown binde and steel cap; my second, I love these pens.

This is what happens when you stumble into special pens at decent prices but have to wait a while for them to get to you.

There should be a Pelikan 140 in today's post.

The 140 is a great pen. It's cap is longer than a couple of other medium-small pens popular in that era that I have, so posted it is as large as a posted 400. So it has great balance posted.

A 140 was the first semi-flex pen I got. At the flea market as soon as I tested the nib against my thumbnail, I understood what all the fuss was about.

Semi-flex is a flair nib, not a calligraphy nib.

The extra soft semi-flex nib adds flair; some line variation, to your writing with out doing anything. Where you put more pressure in a forming a letter, the nib will expand slightly and easily. You don't have to force anything.

Many folks think it's semi-flex, when it's semi-flex, accent on semi=almost. So they abuse the nib.

I have a system of halves for grading nib flex, which I'm not going to get into right now.

But I had always wondered why many folks were talking about how slow semi-flex was to write with, until I discovered they were practicing nib abuse.............pretending it was a calligraphy nib and maxing it or even pushing it beyond it's max of 3 X a light down stroke.

I only strive to max the nib when perhaps crossing a T or making the loop fancy on the last word's in a sentence's descender.......I do need to practice that, got enough problem just scribbling.

For calligraphy, get a Italic nib or a superflex, there is no reason to spring a great writing semi-flex nib, by maxing it or exceeding max all the time.

I see nib abuse on Youtube or sheets showing how they pre-sprung the semi-flex nib for your convince.

Richard Binder has a great article on metal fatigue. The lesson I got was don't max the nib often. If I have a superflex 5X, like my 100n, I strive to take it out to 4 X as a safe max.

A German Semi-flex is a robust nib. When I first got my 140, I was heavy handed, so maxed the nib all the time.

After weeks, I was only maxing it half the time. perhaps some six weeks later my Hand had gotten so much lighter, I could demand line variation, when I wanted it, if wanting a bit more than the natural flair. I've become happy with 2X nib spread on certain parts of the letters of the word with out thinking about it. Going for 3X when wanting a fancy letter only.

I'm currently waiting for a PenBBS 355 in clear acrylic with fine nib, a Waterman's W5 in blue in need of a new nib, an Aurora Amica Torino in brown basket pattern, and various batches of dip nibs. Oh, and a Gravitas Pens Ultemate Vac with the titanium flex nib, although I suspect this last one will call for a little patience.

Not a pen that I just bought, but one that I am having repaired. I bought a bright red Marlen Basilea on Pentrace, and the captured converter broke (I think it was broken when I bought it, but I couldn't prove it so I am paying for the repairs myself). I sent it to Yafa 10 weeks ago, and then put it out of my head. Yafa said, once Marlen had it, it would be 6-8 weeks to repair it. I just ran across the postal tracking receipt to Yafa and realized it was time to start asking about it. Figuring international shipping times, they still have 3 weeks or so before I would consider it "late," but I asked about it anyway. Maybe I'll get it in time for the holidays. It's a good color for a holiday pen.

:D I'm putting this and a couple other pens ... in..to the mail, today to get them back in the mail. 1925 Waterman needs new sac, and I need a new sac for my 1971 P-75 squeeze filler.

The auction house didn't catch the overlay was gold.....neither did I. Some nice folks here told me about that.

The nib is 'only' semi-flex, none of the super wet noodles of Waterman fame.

It's a funny story. When I wrote to Yafa, they replied that they had no record of my pen. They have been very gracious about it, since I could prove that the PO delivered it to them on September 1, and that the pen was insured. So they have credited me with the insurance amount to use for a pen on their website, which comprises all their brands. They don't have any Basileas any more, but I was able to find something in a Delta that I like.

So now I am waiting for a different pen, a Delta Duna piston filler with a Fine Flexible nib. I've been wanting to try one of their flexible nibs, so now is my chance.

I got an offer on a pen I was watching on eBay, and accepted it. So the pen I’m waiting on is a True Writer by Levenger, the transparent Amethyst with B nib. It will join the True Writer transparent Pinkly I got earlier this year. Pinkly got new ink earlier today, Iroshizuku Yama Budo. It had Pelikan Edelstein Star Ruby in it first.
