I have had this bottle of ink for years, as the 49 cents price indicates!  I saw the same item on Instagram, selling for over $80. For real?

BTW it still has some ink in the bottle that I just got all over my hand!

$80 is awfully steep for blue black. I paid less than that for a nearly full unused 32 oz bottles!

 

The main color I see bringing crazy money in vintage Sheaffer ink is Peacock Blue, but that's also one that seems to come and go in popularity and most of my 2 oz bottles of it have been in the $20 range.

Agreed. $80 for a bottle of BB is like the people on eBay who have a $200 “buy it now” option on an untested, crusty, black Parker “51” with a dented lustraloy cap…. In both cases, the seller is waiting for a sucker. And in both cases, I hope they wait forever. (Sadly, it appears as though suckers are common enough that it works…)
