Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Private Reserve Infinity Green

This is review #199 in my series.  Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Cleaning was quick and easy.  This green was not inspired by plants.  I suppose you could call it a "mineral-y green".  I might have liked this color at some point in my life, but since finding murky greens, I can't stand these ordinary green greens...

Screenshot: Pretty close

Scan: Possibly a little too blue, but close

Zoom: Pretty close; shading isn't so obvious to the naked eye

Absorbent Paper: Too minty

Copy Paper: Also too minty (should be more green and a brighter color)

The line width measurement is one of the lines used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 300µm. (For the curious, with 199 inks measured, the average line width is 294µm.  NOTE: I had a logic error in the code that calculated the average, so previous averages may have been off by a bit, but this is correct.)

The microscope slide was straight out of Dullsville.

Errata: (in Subjective Analysis) "...it's scratchy..." (add the "y"); (in Quote) "...glory consists..." (add "s" before the "t").

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

I like greens, but this one…..eh.   Low lubrication, long dry time.  Also, PR inks and I do not get along from way back.

The important thing, though: SAVE MAKHABESH!

Thanks as always for the review and serial.  👍🏻

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Great review @LizEF

From what I can read between the lines, this ink is not worth it. I guess it's falls in the category of the worse inks ever, and it's not even a speciality ink that twirls and dances or writes for you ;) :D

Another cliffhanger for Makhabesh, who will rescue him or would he fight off the beasties? [tense music] ;)

BTW does he have a human face like the Sphinx or Lamassu

Really doesn't have a lot going for it, does it?

Thank you as always @LizEF

I'm happy to add myself to the hard no's on this one - even if the behaviour wasn't so unappealing, the colour certainly is.

Things aren't looking too rosy for the little sphinx either :(

Thanks!  Unless you just have to have that Infinity feature in green, no, not worth it.

I will leave it up to each reader how they wish to picture Makhabesh.  To me, he has a mostly feline face, perhaps somewhat human-ish, but mostly feline.

Yeah, that shade of green just isn't for me - give me something plant-like or murky, please!

Dangerous thing, adventuring!  Will Quin rise to the occasion?  Does the High Wizard have as-yet-hidden powers?  Can Essri's magic find help?  Does Makhabesh have more fight left than it seems?  Tune in next week.....  :D

I'm a bit disappointed the review says nothing about the effectiveness of the "infinity" feature of the ink.  If the ink really does have exceptional off-cap time, that might be worth putting up with some of its flaws (dryness, lack of lubrication, feathering on many papers).

The feathering is probably the worst of the flaws in my eyes, because an ink with this hue and long off-cap time would make and excellent ink for annotations and corrections, but feathering undermines its usefulness for that purpose.

Sorry, you're right, I should at least mention it.  It appears the same as the previous Infinity inks I've reviewed, so it didn't occur to me to mention it, but of course, not everyone will have seen my previous Infinity ink reviews.  Thanks for pointing out the gap!

I was really surprised by the fuzziness in my Rhodiarama - that was the most unexpected to me.  The absorbent paper, I can understand; copy paper, well, many fail on that; but the Rhodiarama - that may be a first.

Thank you for saving me.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you @LizEF for this finite review of an infinite green ink. My brain translates the name into: the green that never ends. But my brain doesn't help me understanding what that means.

Is this the type of story where the disclaimer reads: No animal was hit by producing this story - except one sphinx?

One life!

It is in Makhabesh's favor that he reminds me of my favorite character in Studio Ghibli's Kiki's Delivery Service (subtitled version only of course), the sarcastic little black cat Jiji.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

  Unless you count monsters - then, lots of those were worse than hit... ;)
