Buying pens in Surrey/Hampshire?

Anyone know any decent antique or pen shops in this area? Tried Farrells in Chobham but they don’t have much to choose from.

Thanks!

To be honest, having been in Portsmouth and now Southampton, I have not seen anything.

As an idea, I would say approach John, The Oxonian on here, and find out what he has for sale.

My three favorite vintage pens were purchased online..

I’d rather go and browse through options tbh that buy online.

As would I, but as that option does not exist for me, I go to where pens can be found.

Add lightness and simplicate.

You could try the Salisbury Antiques Market 37 Catherine Street, Salisbury, opposite the Old George Mall entrance. I've bought there occasionally, but not recently. Keep your elbows tucked in - it's a bit cramped in there!

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That's why it's called the present

There are several options that are open to you without travelling too far.

Peterg - regularly of this parish - lives in Metropolitan Surrey I believe. He has been selling on ebay, but would I am sure be willing to let you see items in the flesh

There is a collector who I believe uses the handle Abinger, who has been selling pens. I met him a decade or so ago when I was living in Surrey, he was a good egg

Finally there is a very regular ebay seller called DThal (and other handles). If you dropped him a line I suspect he would also agree to meet and display some items.

I buy plenty off ebay and rarely  have a problem, have purchased privately many times from individuals I have never me, also without problem... but if you really are to anxious about such a market then there will be plenty of options like the above that are within travelling distance.

most pen traders / collectors are friendly beasts!

  • 1 year later...

Might be worth a trip to Salisbury Antiques Market, or even checking out local fairs. Sometimes you get lucky with finds, like vintage Conway Stewart pens.
