Wondering if the tool is necessary for the nib.  The current MB 146/9 have the housing notches, but can be unscrewed by hand.  If the nibs can be removed by hand there is no need for the tool, as one can lubricate the piston from the front end.

The nib variety is encouraging.  Perhaps we'll see more from other Chinese brands.

It will probably come from Hongdian or one of the Wing Sung entities if we do get more nib variation.  It is promising that we got the 1.1 factory now and a lot of the manufacturers are already offering the long knife nibs. Jinhao came out of nowhere with a #8 on the x159 so good good signs.

The Bock and Jowo housings are very interesting.

Looks like the pens have hit AliExpress already. There's two sellers currently offering the pens at $34. I didn't see the nibs and accessories yet.

I have failed to resist & wait for the prices to settle this time & ordered it from CR Stationery Store at AliExpress for $32.48 including shipping. I hope it lives upto all the teasing & hype around it.

It's really hard to resist but after the A1 and the subsequent fall back to normal pricing and availability I feel the wait could be worth it. Patience won't last long though lol.

LOL .. patience is a virtue we all need to get familiar with , especially when the ink refuse to flow ...

Anyway am glad they give us these old , retro and yet timeless colours , though I would not discount if they come out with something like baby pink or industrial orange

Interesting.  No Majohn P136 at that store, or any other, when searching from UK

Add lightness and simplicate.

Not true. I tried it just now using a VPN service with an exit node in London.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

I had to search in rather an odd way, but can see it in Mary's (as well as CR) with pretty quick shipping to the UK. It seems you have to buy the add on bits separately from the link earlier in this thread

I just searched for Majohn P136, and Mary's came back as the first match. Browsing in CR (which is still Mary's, previously pcmos)'s store page, I can see it is listed among new arrivals.

Thank you!  I doubt I'll purchase.  I have an MB 146 that doesn't suit me and sees no use.  I'll try to sell it at the London show.   I am, however, very interested in what Majohn is doing.  Hope their influence rubs off on Jinhao.  I'd like to see more nibs for the X159.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Pricing will definitely come down if you can manage to resist hitting "Buy Now" button for a few weeks. I have also been able to get Majohn T5, Wing Sung 629 & several other pens at much lower prices compared to the upcharge at the time of their release.

FOMO is real. At this point one has to realize they are producing these pens in the millions and if you wait you will get the pen you want. There are instances where colorways become harder to find over time but in general you can get the model in some color or the new releases at a non hysteria priceong after release. The WS 698 started this years ago and you can still get them all now. I advise all to Breathe. This is Majohn, not Lanbitou, so barring an unexpected fall from manufacturing grace this pen amd the accessories will be available.  The Flagship price is $21 and freight does not justify a 14 markup for one pen. Maybe we are arguing over pennies but that is half a pen or a few nib units. At 25-28 we can talk. The factory stub is the only thing separating this WS 629, which is going for between 19-27.

Yes, there are obvious visual differences,

Now that other photos — including ones showing the P136's nib having been pulled out of the nib collar — have surfaced, can you see the less obvious (as in previously obscured by the opaque black plastic) visual differences? ;)

My order through Taobao arrived yesterday. Here's my impressions so far:

  • The posting experience is terrible. The cap basically sits loose on the end of the pen. If you press it on forcefully, the cap will wedge on, but it is very easily dislodged.
  • The colors are not as vibrant as the pictures show. Especially the blue - it is a more "dusty" dark blue-gray than the pictures imply. The green and red colors are slightly less vibrant as well, but not nearly as noticeable as the blue.
  • The writing experience is unremarkable. Here are my impressions of what I have inked:
    • Standard EF: Smooth, a bit dry
    • Standard F: A bit scratchy, nice and wet
    • 1.1 Stub: Smooth writer, good line variation
    • #35 EF: Smooth, a bit dry
  • Here is what I observed about the difference between the standard and the #35 nibs:
    • The standard nibs have holes punched in the ends to retain them, the #35 nibs do not.
    • The #35 nibs are 1-2mm longer than the standard nibs
    • There does not seem to be an appreciable difference in how the nibs write.
    • Other than cosmetics (only #35 nibs have two-tone available) I don't know what the selling point is for the #35 nibs over the standard nibs.
      • Edit: One possibility I just thought of is that the #35 style might be compatible with generic #6 nibs. I will have to test this theory.
