Cross Wanderlust Malta

Recommended Posts

I just bought this Wanderlust, it caught my eye immediately.  I went in looking for the translucent blue and rose gold Century II, and ended up with this lovely pen. It’s an M, and it’s gold plated, my original Century was solid, so I wasn’t expecting it to write the same, but it does and it’s a very nice surprise. I lost that pen in 1996 and have regrets. I have no writing samples as it was just dipped at the store and needs cleaning.  The picture does not do justice to how glittery this pen is.

Good choice and well done. Wish you reams of happiness.

On reflection, I suddenly seem to be lusting for one.

Thank you!  There’s green, orange, and purple ones in the same design.

I keep looking at the Cross Wanderlust pens, especially the purple one.  But I don't know enough about the model to be willing to hit a buy button.

OTOH, I'd buy another Cross Solo in a heartbeat if the price was right and it was a color I liked.

Possibly? Try buying a Century II (the base model for the Wanderlust series)in a finish you like and see if the  nib section fits in the Wanderlust and the cap closes with no issues. If it works, you can find Century II nib sections sold separately online. If it doesn’t, at leaat you have another pen that you like.

Thank you- it’s so pretty, I’m almost afraid to use it.

I think most of the current Cross crop of pens use the century ii nib and se Timon I now have an idea as I would like to convert my wanderlust Everest rollerball to a fountain pen

Try it and see. The only possible problem I can anticipate is the inner cap might be shorter on a rollerball or the section isn’t the same size but if you have one of each kind , you can do a test swap. If it fits, there’s extra nib sections available online (or there were, I don’t know if parts are scarce now).

I have the ballpoint version and being a swimmer its the colours and look that attracted me to it.  In the flesh it was absolutely stunning when I bought it, however after a couple of years the blues have faded and the gold plating has worn away.

I contacted Cross about it and told them how disappointed I was that it had worn away, but there response was unless there was a mechanical fault then tough.  A real shame because new the vividness of the colours and patterns just blew me away and was the reason I decided to spend the most I ever have on a pen.

Oh  @Spep, I’m sorry that happened to your pen and that Cross was less than helpful.  They are very different from how they used to be, but that’s customer service in a nutshell these days.

Yeah @Penguincollector customer service certainly isn't how it used to be.

The silly thing is that hurts them, because its put me off wanting another Cross pen.  Ok, I'm not a huge spender and I'm hardly going to bring the company down, but driving repeat business / recommendations away etc is not usually a good idea.

That and also the complete lack of availability of refills, bottled ink and cartridges or converters is not good. Thankfully all of my cross pens are now on converters, and they are working.
