Ranga Models w #8 nibs at Peyton Street Pens

We've been wanting to stock a Ranga that accepts a #8 nib for quite some time, but delayed because the nibs themselves were so freaking expensive! We could only get Bock gold and titanium nibs, which more than doubled the price of the pen. There wasn't a steel nib to be had that worked with a standard JoWo or Bock housing. Thanks to Magna Carta and Meisternibs, we're now able to get steel and gold plated #8 nibs that conform to the Bock 380 specs.

 

We now have the Ranga model 5 and Splendour configured for the Magna Carta Bock #8 nibs ....

 

Here's the Premium Ebonite Splendour, priced at $160 with the #8 nibs. We also have standard ebonite Splendours for #8 nibs at $140.

 

And here's the Model 5 for #8 nibs ..... premium ebonite model 5 and standard ebonite. Same pricing as the Splendours.

I bought one of these from Terri.  I ordered black and yellow, which looks odd in pictures, but looks amazing in real life.  The workmanship is outstanding on the pen body.  (I ordered body only, without nib unit).

 

The Bock 380 unit with 14 K gold nib was ordered from FPNibs, customized to a medium stub, and feed modified by Pablo for high ink flow.  Marrying the nib unit to body took less than one minute, with some silicone grease on the threads.  This is now one of my smoothest writing, juiciest flowing pens!   The big number 8 nib means business!

So glad you like it and that it works with the nib you got from Pablo!  I'm sure the nib cost more than the nib-less pen did 🙂

Yes, the nib was expensive, but not unduly so.  This large nib is really a great match for this large pen.
