Esterbrook 8550 nib and feed in a TWSBI 580

It works!

I had an 8550 with a broken collar that I wasn't sure what to do with. To my surprise, the nib and feed fit into my TWSBI 580.

Anyone else find unexpected homes for Esterbrook nibs and feeds?

I put Esterbrook nibs in Sheaffer pens.  Sadly it didn’t hurt the value of a J it probably made the balance worth more.

Something bad happened.

The 8550 was corroded in a line right across the "Made in the USA" text. I wanted to experiment with another nib so I attempted to remove the nib and it broke along the line of corrosion as though it were a perforation. I suppose it was a perforation.

Sadly, there is one less 8550 nib in the world. I am sorry.

I wrote to Mr. Kandan at Ranga Pens asking if he could make me a slim bamboo pen that would accept Easterbrook screw-in nibs.  I have a bunch of these.  He said that he'd need a nib as a model, that he had none, and that the postal system in India was such that packages mailed to him from abroad would not arrive.
