Any ideas brought this waterman ideal fountain pen and can’t find it anywhere

It's difficult to tell from the top photo, but there could be hallmarks near the end of the barrel. If so, those could help with determining who made the overlay and a date range. Also, what is the filler system, e.g., eyedropper, lever, cartridge, etc.? That might also help.

Hi thanks for your reply the Hallmarks are for 1907 lion - leopard - date letter M with regards to the filler system I’ve no idea to be honest , no lever system any idea for the date ?

Sterling silver straight cap, eyedropper, Line and Dot pattern, also called Commercial.  Looks like a 402 or a 404.

I'm no waterman expert so I could be very wrong. profile looks wrong for a 404 as the cap is too long or the barrel is too short for the standard straights cap barley corn.

Its either a tapered cap 424 or a chatelaine 404v with the case missing. likely post globe. No clue if there was a standalone 404v
