Refilling a D1 Refill ?

Recommended Posts

I use D1 refills with a 3d printed holder in a machined pen.

I prefer the gel version over the ballpoint so I go through them pretty quickly.

I have tried once to refill an empty refill with gel ink from another refill but it was a massive fail.

I would love to hear from anyone who has success refilling refills, especially gel inks.

I haven't tried fountain pen ink and would love to hear if anyone has made this work with any kind of ink actually.

Thanks!

I am not sure it is possible.

The "ink" in the ballpoints is an oil based, fairly high viscosity, and the refill need to be sealed with  a later of some sort to keep the ink in.

D1 refills are also very cheap, so unless it a purely for you to satisfy your own curiosity or chasing a particular colour, I would suggest buy a box of replacements for a  couple of dollars each.

J Herbin make a roller ball which is refillable with fountain pen in, if you want to use a specific colour this may be an easy option.

From the linked page: "Mark One accepts the Schmidt P8126 refill, or any Parker-style refill."

You can use any of the many, many ISO G2 (Parker ballpoint/gel type) refills available. I recommend the Ohto PG-105NP Flash Dry gel, 0.5mm needle-point, black only, available from JetPens in the US or CultPens in the UK for about US$1.50 each. The Kaco gels available from Amazon are also decent.

have the otho but would like some other colors, especially a blue and blue-black

the kaco looks like it is a generic refill not a parker, do they make a parker iso g2 refill in gel ? that would be great

yes, there are a lot of parker refills

but very very few in gel

and very very few in fine point

and ohto is the only fine-point gel i have found, though it isn't a bad refill

love to know if those kaco come in parker g2 gel

thanks!

These are the Kaco gel refills I've bought:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JPYGXFN/

They're the closest thing I've found to blue-black in an ISO G2 gel refill.

thanks!

finally another option though it is on amazon.com and i don't know if they ship to canada yet but maybe i can find a way

this is great, i have been looking for a while without success

are you pretty happy with them ?

do they have a pretty small .5 line ? (you never know, one guy's .5 is another guys .7 :))

the schmidt p8126 seems a real .6 to me but i would like a smidge smaller

could you measure for me

they do deliver to canada and i have a pack of the dark and the regular blue in the cart
