I just checked.  Yes.

To confirm: other than the plastic body and larger nib, the pen is the same size as the metal 159?

The x159 does post pretty well, albeit sometimes it needs a little extra push to get the cap to stay. Overall it's not a big deal. The pen is generally the same size as the metal 159. I have owned both and I very much prefer pens that post --so I'll assure you that the x159 is a much much more positive experience than the metal 159.

There is now 3 oversized ( aka 159 sized ) models Jinhao catalog the old 159 ; the X159 and the 9056 , personally I find the 9056 most comfortable for me

I saw with several sellers EF nibs for this pen. Anybody has one?

Not a single photo shows one nib with EF stamped but I saw a photo with a "golden" nib without F stamping.

Thanks.

Here's some objective information about the feed. It may not be the most precise or accurate, but I don't feel there's a need to pull the feed out and take measurement of its diameter (or length), just to establish whether “sellers … declaring it's a size 8” is outright wrong…

Now I've done it anyway, never mind how easy or difficult it was to disassemble the Jinhao X159. With the feed pulled out, I've taken a more accurate measurement of its diameter; it is not nearly 8mm, even when rounded off to a single significant digit.

Three new colors. That's seven silver models now along with the original red, green, black, and blue.

Dark green and ivory white in gold for now but silver and other colors naturally coming. The original had at least 12 colors in both trims so the popularity of this model leaves little doubt there will be more.

Ummmm, I already have the black one+silver trim. Maybe buying an orange one and then exchange caps between both...so the black would get a color touch, and the orange wouldn't be so orange.

That's what I really like about the x159 and why I'll actually use it as a daily writer: the Fine nib is actually rather wide

I just received an EF tipped x159 that would seem to write quite a bit finer than the Jowo EF. See enclosed picture. 6AF75B80-7ABA-453B-A4FE-071A35966432.thumb.jpeg.d9c4067332158e62786b7c56dd238bbb.jpeg696E3319-7A97-4755-88CB-7ACC046C410C.thumb.jpeg.ea8eb0ef34e5dded4da15360dba67343.jpeg

I have the 4-pc set (2 black/1blue/1red) with F nib, and I an quite impressed. Looking on the internet for the Ivory White and Dark green, would like to have those in EF. But I cannot find them. Some suppliers do show them in a picture, but in the option list they are not available.

Any one knows where they can be ordered?

If they aren't available in that configuration on Taobao, then in all likelihood you won't see them offered on AliExpress or eBay either.

If you'd wanted the bicolour nibs in EF, you'd have an easier time sourcing them on the dark blue and dark red (with gold clips) — never mind the convenience, possibly bulk-buy savings, of ordering it as a ‘set’ — and then F nibs on the pen body colours that get released later, when the black-with-silver-trim version has already shown that F nib is the default nib ‘option’ (or only configuration) on offer upon initial release.

That said, if you're prepared to wait, knowing that Jinhao does in fact make the bicolour version of the 40mm EF nibs, then just keep looking on Taobao (or JD).

(Right now the Jinhao official store on Taobao doesn't offer the EF nib option on any colourway of the X159 that has gold trim. There is at least one seller offering the EF nib option on the colourways of black, dark blue, and dark red with gold trim; and I know I've seen that on AliExpress this week as well.)

I think someone is having a joke on us about the new colors of x159! They can be found no where for sale!
I will believe they are available when I see some one writing with them

also on the ef nibs I have one marked ef instead of fine it is little finer than my other x159’s, also my black with gold trim has a plastic thread section on the section that screws to barrel, it is all plastic!!!

Public service announcement: I took one of mine apart to clean ink out of the cap. The cap finial and clip were easy enough to remove, but to my surprise the cap is actually two pieces (outer shell, inner sleeve) and a small piece fell out that apparently kept everything together.

That small piece either snapped off (wasn't meant to unscrew) or it's so difficult to put back in that it's ill-advised to casually disassemble.

Ther are a total of eight8 pieces total in that cap unit! The piece you r talking about take a wide end set of tweezer and insert in the gaps on sides of round nut, then tape the tweezers shut, insert nut into cap and twist round top on the tweezers work as a make shift wrench but works well ……you have to find proper tweezers with wide flat points!!

They are on Taobao, of course, as well as on AliExpress.

For the hell of it, I added them to my shopping cart just now:

Is it actually? In any case, are you really surprised that it doesn't look metallic and polished?

Found them easily on AliExpress. At least two vendors have them in stock. They can also be found on eBay and Etsy but with expensive shipping.

someone at r/fountainpens claims that X159 can fit M1000 nib, anyone with a M1000 nib and a X159 willing to test and show some pictures?  (not sure if the X159 cap is long enough to cap without hitting the nib)

The nib unit in my x159 is very happy where it is.  So much so that it refuses to leave.  I can confirm, however, that the M1000 nib is around 2mm longer.  I believe there is enough room in the x159 cap to accommodate the variance.

Add lightness and simplicate.

I was able to remove the nib unit of my x159 fairly easily (it’s screw-in).
