I'd like to introduce my MB 149P's bodyguard.  Mr Jinhao 159. Updated version.

I was happy to see that ugly shield on the clip gone.

That was exactly my first though. It just so happens I have a (former) Jinhao 159 with an FPR flex nib at hand right now, and the old clip is ugly whereas this one seems more conspicuous and simple.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

And no metal threads.

From the ads photo, it still have metal threads at the end of section

That is likely because you are still seeing the ads for the old model. Certainly not the same as depicted in the OP.

Yes. Mental threads INSIDE, but not on the external barrel as with the original model.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Which isn't surprising as I think the whole pen is metal (body, section and cap) plastic lacquered, so it makes sense for visible threads, but not internal threads (which are not to be seen and thus do no affect the perceived aesthetics).

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Is it lighter than the usual 159?

I saw that but didn’t realize it was a new model change. I like the Jinhao pens in this price range but the shield put me off trying this one.

@MuddyWaters     I now have a copy of the new Jinhao 159 pictured at the top of this thread. I can report that the body and cap are both plastic and that the new cap does *not* fit the older pen. On my sample the fit and finish was a tad lower than the old one; the finial and tailpiece had a rougher transition to the body. Now that I have both in hand I slightly prefer the old model due to its extra heft, YMMV.

My understanding is that the original 159 clip can be swaped for X750 or 51a clips, which will fit with a little encouragement.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Thanks ocart, I appreciate the feedback on the pen. I wonder if over time the pen may not become more comfortable for long writing sessions. I often found the original 159 really comfortable when I first picked it up, but then would become straining on the fingers after a while. I'd want to re-try it though.

@OCArt Does the #6 nib fit the new pen? I think this X159 comes with a 40mm nib. I just wanted to know if the regular 35mm replacement nib can take its place without issues.

Why would Chinese Jinhao use an Indian nib?

Add lightness and simplicate.

I did not claim that it did.

40mm nib is an Indian phenomena, no?  Anyway, I'll let you know once it gets here.

I was very surprised when I compared the nib of an 'old' (white) 159 to the new (black) model, the new nib is substantially bigger. I couldn't easily pull the nib but you can get an idea of the size from this photo.
