Parker Duofold International Black PT 2012

My Parker Duofold is almost 10 years old and the rhodium (palladium ?) cover on the cap rings has been damaged. I have contacted to a jeweler about this issue and he suggested me to detach these rings from the cap.
So I have 2 questions: is it possible to disassemble the cap (without any damage) and which metal should a jeweler use to restore the cover? Or maybe it is better to order new rings made of white gold for example?
Any help is highly appreciated.

Love and peace to everyone! No to war!

The cap lip is quite thin at the opening.  Cracking is quite common.  Your chances of getting the band off without breaking the cap lip are IMO based on experience, slim to none.

The reason why is that the cap bands are held captive by the clip lip, which screws into the cap itself and reaches up well above the top band.  In the picture it's about where the back of the ball on the clip stops.  This is held in place by an adhesive.  You would have to heat the cap to soften the adhesive and then unscrew the cap lip to get the cap bands and color band off.  Getting enough of a grip on the cap lip to unscrew it will be risky if not impossible.

When I have to replace a damaged cap lip I end up cutting down the remains of the lip on the lathe until it's thin enough to pick out of the inside threads, and then I screw the replacement in.  The part and labor to replace a cap lip is not cheap.

All of which is to say, unless you want to spend a bunch of money, I'd leave well enough alone.

Thanks for your honesty. Any chance to obtain similar or compatible cap, maybe from newer versions of the Duofold International? I have not find anything on neither on eBay nor on Amazon.

Try Five Star pens.  Some folks bought up a bunch of Parker parts at an auction a couple of years ago.  I don't know how much is making it into the open market.  The reproduction cap lips are not cheap if you can get your hands on them.

I will try to make an X-ray image of this cap on Wednesday. Any suggestions about the correct temperature of heating? And which way is better: to put it in the hot water or to heat it with a fan?
