I did some swatches comparing some of the inks mentioned here against both the Birmingham Pen Frick Stained Glass and Kestrels Faux Stained Glass.  I used a Steel nib dip pen and Tomoe River paper.

The line of color is the real stuff in a line on the right so you can compare it to the real thing.

Hope this works-never loaded pics directly before. This was done on white Tomoe Ri we 52gsm paper.

the second picture is on cream Tomoe River 52gsm

phots were taken using an iPhone under an OTT daylight bulb.

Kestrel let me know if you want me to send you these sheets.

I am so disappointed in the Papier Plime Samhain, it used to be a dark murky purplish gray. Sigh

Wow @fireant these were wonderful comparisons!  Thank you.  I think I need more ink.   That RO deep purple is calling to me. :P  I also need to find my RK Aubergine. I forgot how much I like the color.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

The problem is, in a fine/med nib it just looks black. You've been warned. Do you want some? I can just send you the bottle-or at least 1/2 if you want it.

I think the KWZI IG Violet #3 looks closest in the pics. If the samhain hadn't gone all grey it might have been a bit closer.

Oh yes. Thank you. I think it will look great in my broad nibs.  Also I now sign docs so it could be my stealth black.

Thanks for the offer but I don't need the pages.  I am amazed (and impressed) by all the work  and the number of inks.  I am still working through some of the samples I bought last year.  The state of Floriduh has declared my property a potential disaster area.  They're afraid the mass of my ink stash will cause a sinkhole to develop.

Letter arrived today.  Mail sometimes travels a bit lethargically from the distribution center 30 miles north of here to our wonderful local post office.  Response will follow shortly.

Wow that took some time!

Hey bf and I watched a cool special about the Florida Panther (the animals not the team) expanding further north. The photographs and videos of these cats were beautiful.

I am one of the fortunate few to have seen a panther in the wild.  I had the cat in view for a good 15 minutes at about 100 yards through binoculars.  The location was an "inconvenient" place for a panther to be (translation:  condo construction to start soon) so the state wildlife people kept trying to tell me it was a golden retriever.  That way the development restrictions wouldn't be implemented.

I don't know if kestrel ever found a substitute, but I just wanted to mention the new (limited edition ) Lamy Blackberry is a candidate.

I was able to track down a bottle for him from another online forum. Note-you always want to help Kestrel, shortbread is your reward!! :)
